Making an Impact: Knowledge of hypnosis for transformations
Making an impact is something many people want to do, to change something in the world or in individuals, but how do you do it? How do you make sure your life has made an impact on someone.
How do you make sure you make the world a little better? There are a number of professions known for making an impact on people.
Making an impact as a motivational speaker
You probably know Emile Ratelband's slogan "Chakka!" If anyone has had an impact on the Netherlands and on people's mindsets, it is Emile. By far the most famous motivational speaker in the Netherlands.
Many motivational speakers use Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) to convey their message to a group or an audience they wish to motivate to make the most of their lives.
NLP is also something many people with knowledge of hypnosis use to help people. It is also part of Hypnosis Institute Netherlands' training programs.
For example, would you like to make an impact as a motivational speaker, but—strangely enough—do you suffer from stage fright? If so, know that self-hypnosis can be used to address the fear of public speaking[1]. Research shows that students who have learned self-hypnosis have more confidence in their ability to speak in front of groups.
That way you can more easily make an impact as a motivational speaker, because at least you'll be confident on stage. Chakka!
How does hypnosis work for a motivational speaker
I myself also hold regular events where I give demonstrations on hypnosis, but at the same time try to motivate people to feel good about themselves and make the most of their lives.
I then actually do this with a form of group hypnosis. By cleverly using NLP and techniques to put people into hypnosis, I ensure that the audience listens carefully and participates in the "show."
This is also how it can work for a motivational speaker.
Making an impact as a coach
A motivational speaker is often also a coach. Many people who host events for groups as motivational speakers use the event to offer a specific coaching program.
This could include a coaching program for:
- Professionals or people in executive positions.
- Helping people with self-confidence.
- Helping people with their health.
- Helping people with their sports performance.
It can be anything. There are also an awful lot of coaches in the Netherlands and anyone can actually call themselves a coach.
And as a good coach, you naturally want to make an impact on your clients’ lives. As a coach, you already make use of the power of suggestions. After all, you pose all kinds of questions and statements to see how your client responds to them and to help him or her achieve their goals and solve problems.
If you suddenly start working on suggestions very consciously now, this can be even better[2]. And you get that knowledge when you become more knowledgeable about hypnosis.
Researchers indicate that teaching your coachee self-hypnosis can already help them make progress.
Depending on the coachee’s goals, knowledge of regression and progression can also be very useful in achieving those goals.
Using indirect suggestions can also have great impact in normal conversations[3].
In addition, hypnosis can be used to reduce stress and alleviate performance anxiety[4].
How does hypnosis work for a coach
As a coach, you can, of course, ask your clients if you may put them under hypnosis to turn the coaching session into a kind of hypnocoaching session. Then, techniques such as regression and progression can be used to remove limiting beliefs or to create a clear step-by-step plan for achieving specific goals.
Making an impact as a personal trainer
Another place where you can make an impact is as a personal trainer. How cool would it be if you could help one of your clients who simply needs a personal trainer because they just didn’t have the motivation to work out?
How cool is it then, when you find that person makes the "click" that makes sports a natural part of his or her life. Or when your client suddenly follows your "homework" and you don't get some lame "I didn't have time" excuse.
How cool is it when you, as a personal trainer, make the impact of someone suddenly becoming conscious about their body's health.
To improve athletic performance and reach high levels, it is important for people to believe in their own abilities. Hypnosis can strengthen this belief[5].
In addition, you can use hypnosis to influence your clients’ thoughts, making it easier for them to achieve better performance. If the personal training is for a sport in which someone is competing, you can even help your client by anchoring the hypnotic state, since the state itself can improve performance[6].
So how does hypnosis work for a personal trainer
One of my favorite forms of hypnosis is high-performance hypnosis. This is hypnosis designed to help athletes get the most out of themselves.
This often means performing guided visualizations to help athletes feel how they perform certain actions and to be able to do so at the moment suprême.
It is also applying regression to find moments when peak performance was achieved and to anchor that moment to a particular movement. So that the feeling during that peak performance is recalled to improve the chances of the next peak performance.
Athletes can also have limiting beliefs, and if you notice this in someone you’re coaching, you can suggest scheduling a session to help eliminate those limiting beliefs .
Making an impact as a teacher
One profession that is sometimes underestimated in terms of its impact is that of a teacher. As a teacher, you never know which child you might inspire to develop themselves and pursue personal goals.
Research shows that hypnosis can improve students' engagement with the lesson and, as a result, improve their learning[7].
Post-hypnotic suggestions can even improve students’ reading skills. Certain suggestions can enhance students’ motivation and concentration and promote relaxation[8].
Researchers also indicate that knowledge of group hypnosis can be incredibly valuable for teachers to make an impact on the classroom. This is because when the class is relaxed, it enhances the learning performance of the entire class[9].
How hypnosis works for teachers
Teachers cannot quickly offer students 1-on-1 sessions to improve their performance. So knowledge of group hypnosis and knowing clever waking suggestions is important for teachers to get a class into the vibe.
Somehow this works the same as for a motivational speaker.
Making an impact as a hypnotherapist
This is, of course, the topic I have the most to say about. There’s almost nothing more magical than seeing the impact you make as a hypnotherapist. The moment someone suddenly starts breathing differently, relaxes, and breaks into a smile—because, with your help, they’ve solved problems or gained new insights—is truly magical.
Then there are all kinds of problems you can help people with and have an impact on. These are both physical and mental.
Physical complaints
Physical complaints you can have an impact on as a hypnotherapist are:
- Pain
- Menopause Symptoms
- Irritable bowel syndrome
- Stiffness in the joints or mobility
- Accelerating wound healing
Mental Disorders
Mental complaints you can impact as a hypnotherapist are:
- Stress
- Fears
- Depression
- Perfectionism
- Compulsive problems
How hypnosis during hypnotherapy makes an impact
As a hypnotherapist, there are a number of things you do before you make an impact. For example, you first have a preliminary conversation in which the client tells you why he or she is coming to you and what the goal is. Like getting better, or processing something.
In this conversation, you can start by asking what the client thinks the problem is and where it is coming from. This gives you tools to make an impact later during therapy.
You will explain how hypnosis works and ask permission to put the person into hypnosis.
Then the actual therapy begins. During this time, a variety of techniques can be used to help your client help themselves think about certain problems completely differently and, as a result, no longer have the problem.
You’ll learn how it all works in the Hypnosis Institute of the Netherlands’ training program.
When you think you've made the impact needed, you take the person out of hypnosis again. This too is part of the Hypnosis Institute Netherlands training program.
Whether you want to be a motviational speaker, coach, teacher, personal trainer or hypnotherapist some knowledge of hypnosis is always useful. Therefore, the first course is actually suitable for everyone and so is the last one, but especially if you want to make an impact as a therapist it is good to take the three levels of our courses.
