Seeing Innocence in Everything and Everyone

Seeing the innocence in everything and everyone may seem strange, but it can be done. This is how I see the innocence of Donald Trump. I see a little boy who is struggling. For example, I read an article that he cheats at golf and then I find that endearing. He seems to be having a hard time with himself

I am also currently taking the Course in Miracles and one effect of it is that you see the innocence in everything and everyone. Even in people in whom many other people do not see innocence.

You then understand where behavior comes from. You can then say, "If I grew up like this, I could be like this."

You can understand the story of the person doing something.

If you know the story, everyone is innocent

I used to watch the movie *The Karate Kid*. It’s about a poor boy who moves to a neighborhood where there are also some wealthier boys. They bully him, and they all practice karate. The bullies belong to the Kobra Kai karate club. At the end of the movie, he defeats the biggest bully in a karate tournament. That’s the story. The bully is the villain—the whole club is bad—but the boy is the good guy.

But now there is also a series on Netflix about Kobra Kai. Then everything suddenly turns out to be a bit more nuanced. You learn more about the life of the bully and even the life of the bully's trainer. You see everything from a different perspective and then everything turns out to be different. Then you suddenly understand where it all came from.

The roles also seem to be suddenly reversed, as the main character in *The Karate Kid* becomes a successful businessman, while the bully seems to have made a bit of a mess of things. That’s when you also see what status does—or can do—to you.

The method of illumination always creates a particular story. And if you just enlighten enough you will see that somewhere we are all innocent.

But what this also shows is that everyone has a story. Everyone comes from somewhere, and we are all innocent.

This is very difficult because we very quickly stick our judgment on someone. We do this based on people's behavior. Someone who cuts you off is easily a dick, but you don't know why he does it.

While you might cut someone off sometimes, too. Then you’re suddenly a jerk, but you know what your intention was, and you can say you’re sorry if it was accidental.

So really, it's more convenient if we judge people by their intention, but you can't see it.

If the intention was to do it on purpose it is a dick, but what if you know his whole story and it wasn't great? Then again your reaction may be more nuanced.

Scientists also indicate that knowing the intention when someone does something that turns out badly is important for people to see people's innocence in others[1].

At some point, this allows you to increasingly see innocence through everything and everyone.

So I also saw it when I read that Trump cheats at golf. I can see the innocence of that. Of the little boy who never grew taller. Who has also always been given the incentives that he can get away with cheating. To me, he is a little boy who doesn't quite understand how to treat people. Many people may have a different opinion about that.

But if you think about those opinions and such, you may realize that there’s no “Trump” to vent that frustration on. It’s just that taking that step to let it go completely is difficult.

To start letting go anyway, seeing innocence is a good first step.

In the Bible, Jesus also said to his father about those who opposed him, "Forgive them, for they know not what they do." So it is with a lot of things. We all don't know what we are doing. They all have a story and they are just doing something. And when you see that, then you can see the innocence of people.

The news can help you with this, too. It's pretty intense, because news is often negatively charged, but just try to see how all those people are innocent.

But if you can do that, in addition to ECIW classes, you will achieve much peace of mind.

Why did innocence go away?

If you’ve become very cynical and think that most people are essentially bad, that’s not something that makes you happy. After all, it’s not pleasant to be surrounded by bad people, but how did things get this far? How is it that the world is full of danger because of people?

Generally speaking, life experiences can make it hard to trust people anymore. Especially if your family has proven to be untrustworthy, it can be difficult to see other people as innocent—because if your family is already doing X, what might someone who has absolutely no connection to you do?

You’ve stored those experiences somewhere, and they’ve shaped a certain mindset or state of mind—and usually, you won’t double-check whether you’ve interpreted everything correctly.

With hypnosis, you can go back to the first moment when you felt that everyone is guilty and then do something with that moment and subsequent moments to eliminate this feeling.

This makes it a lot easier to see the innocence in everything and everyone.

One of the important steps in this type of experience is to forgive the people who have done something. This can be done, for example, by taking a moment to reflect on their story during regression[2].

Sometimes it's hard to do that, and then you can also have your current self talk to your younger self precisely with a little imagination that everything turned out okay.

Regression is used to let go of certain feelings and to relearn how the world works. This can be incredibly helpful in seeing innocence in other people and in yourself again.

Seeing Innocence Within Yourself

Another thing that can happen is that you think that not only the rest of the world, but you yourself, are no longer innocent. You can be appalled by guilt.

In that case, it is also helpful to forgive yourself. Ultimately, with the information and feelings they have at the time, most people make the best choice they can at the time.

Then if that doesn't turn out great or you do get the feeling later that you should have chosen something else it can be tough.

But then remember that you did your best. That you didn't have the knowledge then that you have now.

And sometimes, even in hindsight, that choice is still the best one. For example, if you’ve let people go because there was always drama with them, but you still feel guilty about it, it’s good to realize that if you hadn’t let them go, you’d still be dealing with that drama right now. Maybe it all would have gotten even worse.

Repeating certain suggestions for more self-love can be incredibly helpful in seeing yourself as innocent again.

For example, you can repeat the suggestion during self-hypnosis:

"I fully accept and forgive myself. I made the best choice I could have made with the knowledge and life I had at the time."

This is just one example. If you’re experiencing different feelings, a hypnotherapist can give you a different suggestion that you can repeat during self-hypnosis.
