God and the devil: how to see it
Some time ago I had some reflections on god and the devil. God and the devil are an interesting idea that people run after. This idea comes from the book "An Incredible Conversation with God." I was listening to this about twenty years ago in Dutch. Suddenly there came a phrase that people are not looking for God, but they are looking for the devil. I thought that was so peculiar at the time. That people want to be the devil, I had to take that in.
Divine and demonic properties
You can categorize God and the devil.
You can think of divine qualities and devilish qualities. Examples of divine qualities include: forgiveness, seeing the innocence, love, light, compassion, and so on. You can come up with all sorts of things.
Devilish traits include, for example: greed, lust, revenge, murder, violence, fighting, and so on.
Maybe you think just a little differently, but I think most people have reasonable similarities in what they consider divine or demonic. What you then get a discussion about might be called human.
Then when you think of struggle you might wonder if God would struggle over something. That sounds very crazy if God is going to strike people in some kind of chariot. In the Old Testament God did punish, but in the New Testament Jesus was talking about a very different God. God the father, the son and the Holy Spirit.
You could say the father is the word, the Holy Spirit is the thought and the son is the creator.
So you are the creator; through the Holy Spirit, you receive thoughts, and you live in the world with God’s words. But you are the one who creates your life. That’s the basic idea.
Is God a warrior?
Then you may already be thinking that you don't see God fighting or demonstrating like that. Why would he do that against his own creation? Then don't create it. God doesn't. If God doesn't do that, then only the devil is left.
You can also give it another word, for example I often say they are the devil's brothers, you also have the white brotherhood. Those would like humanity to evolve toward more light. The brothers of the shadow don't want that.
That is the duality that also plays out within us, and those words also keep us trapped in that duality.
So we have two columns: God and the Devil. The devil can represent all sorts of things, such as fear, hate, anger, and resentment—and all of that is within us too. Within our little selves, our “I.” In my “I,” Edwin, there’s also an angry little Edwin, and he pops up every now and then. I don’t think I have hatred, but I am sometimes vengeful. That’s still there, too.
And it also includes a loving Eddy and a compassionate Eddy. There are many sides to your personality. Those less positive sides you would rather not have, but yes, they are there.
I think the trick then is to give one side more attention than the other, because everything you give attention to grows.
It is not then that the other side disappears.
Getting past the devil
It may still come up, but then you just think, "Okay, fine." And then you pass over that more negative feeling.
The devil doesn't agree with creation and it will always say it's not good. Nor is it made easy for you to think it's good. But a lot of people think it's all fine. Those are not going to fight, those don't care that they have to take a shot and use a QR code.
The warriors who "see" where things are going and then at some point say, "You see!"
I often think then that maybe it's the other way around. That it happens because you thought it was going to happen.
Then I thought, "Most people also just want to see the devil. We have sides that want to fight, that want things to go wrong, that always want to see something that's wrong. So they don't have to do the inner work. Then you can always fight outwardly. You can then always blame the economy, the government, the Chinese on the corner[1]."
Of course those Chinese come in with all the restaurants and they infiltrate. Those Chinese, then we're going to blame them all. (Read in funny tone ;))
This triggered me, that this is what most people want. I am not necessarily one of them, but I too fall into that trap. I too fall into the devil's trap, in the sense that I think "oh you see" or "oh it will go there," but then I go along with the devil's plan, because then I can say you see. It's like this.
But in the end, then, it began in me. Of course there are forces at work that want things to go wrong, but they have been at work for years. And as that comes to light more and more, those forces are also getting stronger.
Then I see people who think that by fighting it solves things. The idea then is that struggle solves things, but it doesn't. Not anymore.
Diverting thoughts
But that's pretty tough. Because if you stop struggling and you see no struggle, then there is no struggle. Then what happens? Those forces can't do anything anymore.
You start, I start and that's how something spreads.
So many people are (unconsciously) running after the devil. Those people see the bad, what's not going right. Then I think you walk full in the knife of the brotherhood of the shadow. Those know how weak we can be and they throw all kinds of temptations in our path.
Lust, greed, vindictiveness. They are also very smart and you can't beat that in terms of smartness. But you can choose. You can choose the other column.
Then you no longer see that struggle. Even if the struggle is there, you just don't experience it anymore.
If we all do this, if we practice this every day, in a while there will be a whole different world. Positive.
You then step away from that negative thought. Instead, you think: “No, this isn’t going to happen at all. Nothing is going to be rolled out. That’s not going to happen. What are we even talking about?”
You might say this is sticking your head in the sand, but I don't think so. On the contrary, it is taking your head out of the sand and creating your own world. Because we have a power far greater than the shadow.
Individually, it is very difficult. But even then it can be done if we fully embrace our divinity. And there are many nuances in that, too.
Any thought of "oh my...", that's just not true. You can think that directly yourself. Even if it's just for your family and not for society.

Treatment of demonic thoughts
Devilish thoughts are actually thoughts you get based on fear. You often want to fight against something you fear, because you are afraid it will make your life impossible.
So basically, you are then treating your anxiety. Back in the 1960s, researchers discovered that treating anxiety that is based on a construct, an idea, such as the idea that things are going the wrong way with something, is quite difficult. Therapy then needs to focus on self-awareness and be seen as a multidimensional process[2].
Just now I tried to make you aware of the power of negative thoughts and the power of positive thoughts. By at least being aware of your thoughts, you can already do a lot to dim your initial reaction, which is to struggle, and look at it a little more rationally.
If you find this very difficult, a hypnotherapist can help you figure out why you find it so important to struggle and what impact it actually has on your life and relationships (it already becomes a bit more multidimensional).
For example, hypnosis can help change your initial fear response so that you can live more freely from fear and function normally[3].
This does not mean that because of hypnotherapy you suddenly want a booster or a QR code or whatever (if that is something you are currently sitting with), this just means that you care less whether you have it or not. Or that you care less about fighting it and instead just do nothing with it. And this takes a lot less negative energy, which is what anxiety ultimately is. You are then just less concerned with a future image that frightens you. Whether this is societal or just something in your personal circle.
