Feeling that everyone is against you

Loneliness does not always mean you are alone. You can also be very lonely while still being in contact with people. This form of loneliness can be characterized by the feeling that everyone is against you. Perhaps you feel that you are being thwarted, or conversely, you feel that no one likes you. This feeling can be incredibly versatile, which is why there are several causes that can cause this feeling.

In this article, I discuss the feeling that everyone is against you, what causes this feeling can have and what you can do about it.

The cause of feeling like everyone is against you can be due to several things. Many negative feelings stem from negative things you experienced early in life. Confidence in your fellow man can take a significant dent from domestic violence or peer bullying.

In some cases, continuing to think about these events can cause you to have a negative outlook on life and, as a result, feel that everyone is against you. This can even become a kind of ritual that causes that negativity to be repeated over and over again. You start a friendship, it then breaks down and you can again say "you see, everyone is against me"(1).

During hypnotherapy, you can find out if you have certain unconscious rituals in your life that cause you to think everyone is against you.

Disrupted sense of relationships

A tough childhood may have disrupted your perception of relationships and sociability. Sometimes you may feel that everyone is against you, because you find it difficult to find new friends or to have a sociable time. In that case, you may wonder why you find this difficult and whether this feeling is true.

Perhaps you have sociability requirements, such as:

It's not fun until we've all had the slack.

It's only fun when we tell each other's life stories.

If this sounds familiar to you, you can use self-hypnosis and hypnotherapy to change these beliefs about sociability and relationships.

In addition, you can use mindfulness during social moments to live in the here-and-now. This allows you to not think about the goals you have, such as I have to talk about that topic like this and otherwise this will fail, and you can enjoy the atmosphere more. That way you can participate in the conversation in a less forced way.

You can also look at the way you try to form relationships. Traumas from your childhood are very personal things, as is wanting children. These are topics that you don't usually talk about during a first meeting. In doing so, it can provoke pity, which is why people may continue to deal with you at first, but it is not a solid foundation for a close friendship. If this is your tactic to start a friendship, it is one that will usually lead to disappointment.

Instead, try to base a friendship around common hobbies and values.

Bad for your self-confidence

The idea that everyone is against you is obviously bad for your self-esteem. But there is the chicken and egg story here. In fact, it can also be a sign of low self-confidence.

Mindfulness, hypnotherapy and self-hypnosis can be used to increase your self-confidence.

Hypnotherapy can be used to look at what is causing low self-esteem. This makes the chicken and egg story immediately clear. Has self-confidence been lower for a long time and as a result you feel that everyone is against you? Or has everyone really been against you lately and therefore you have low self-confidence.

You can then receive hypnotic suggestions that will improve your self-confidence again. You can also take these home to use self-hypnosis to boost your self-confidence even further.

Examples include:

  • I am wise.
  • I just need people to support me.
  • I'm Handsome.
  • I'm good at what I do.
  • My past does not define who I am today.

Symptom of depression

Feeling that everyone is against you is also a symptom of depression. When you suffer from depression, nothing is really fun anymore, and often people or social affairs are no longer anything to do. If you suffer from depression, you may also suffer from the following symptoms:

  • A depressed mood during much of the day, especially in the morning.
  • Insomnia or just sleeping too much.
  • Concentration problems.
  • Many doubt choices.
  • No interest in doing things that are "fun" and not liking those things when you do them.
  • Thoughts of death and suicide.
  • Feeling restless or feeling like everything is going slowly.
  • Weight changes (either losing a lot of weight or gaining a lot of weight).

If you recognize yourself in these symptoms it is wise to seek help. If you prefer not to take medication, you can get help from a psychologist or hypnotherapist. Usually depression is treated with cognitive behavioral therapy. Its results are enhanced if the therapy is supported by hypnosis.

Symptom of social anxiety

Having the feeling that everyone is against you is also a symptom of social anxiety. If you feel in advance that people you are getting to know don't like, care, like you and even already have something to say about you, this is an expression of anxiety you have about social encounters.

If you suffer from social anxiety, for example, you also find it difficult to speak in front of groups, and in severe cases, going outside is already a chore.

The symptoms of social anxiety include(2):

  • Fear of talking to strangers.
  • Fear of being judged.
  • Fear that people can see your insecurities, such as blushing.
  • Avoiding people so your fear doesn't show.
  • Avoid situations where all the attention is on you.

Expecting the worst as a consequence of a negative event.

Social anxiety can be treated with cognitive behavioral therapy and hypnosis.

Symptom of paranoia

Okay now don't immediately think you're going crazy. Because paranoia does not immediately mean that you will become one of those people who think they are being haunted.

This can involve very mundane things where you completely misinterpret people's communications and therefore feel that everyone is against you. For example, if you receive a compliment you may think the other person means it sarcastically, when in fact it is a genuine compliment (3).

Other symptoms of paranoia include:

  • Very prone to relapses in life.
  • Very distrustful (and therefore misinterpreting communication).
  • Conflicting sense of personal rights, which may not always apply to the situation.
  • Feeling every time that your partner is cheating, with no proof.
  • Finding yourself very important, which is why you often talk about yourself.
  • You are much engaged in conspiracy theories against yourself or in the world at large.

As you can see, the symptoms do not always belong to someone who thinks they are being pursued all day long, but the feeling that everyone is against you and deliberately not helping you move forward is part of it. Especially if you think you deal with sarcastic people a lot when you get a compliment, this may be a reason to seek help.

Ultimately, these symptoms belong to certain beliefs, and those very beliefs create your reality. Hypnotherapy can help you change the beliefs again. For example, by looking at the cause of the belief or by using suggestions to change the beliefs.

Paranoid personality disorder is generally treated with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Previous studies have known that hypnosis enhances the results of.

The feeling that everyone is against you can be a sign of many things. If this feeling has been around for a long time, it can be a sign of paranoid personality disorder, as well as social anxiety and low self-esteem. So the severity of the complaint can vary. If you are not sure if something is bothering you, but are clearly suffering from this feeling, you can seek help to get the right diagnosis.

If you are only just beginning to suffer from this feeling, your sense of self-confidence may have taken a dent recently and it may be a sign of depression.

In any case, the feeling is not pleasant, so it is always wise to do something about it. You can, for example, use meditation, self-hypnosis and mindfulness to be less distracted by these negative feelings.
