What Is Nondual Hypnosis? (And How It Solves Your Problems for Good)

What exactly is nondual hypnosis? And how can this idea—which at first glance sounds like a huge contradiction—help you if you’re experiencing all kinds of problems, anxiety, or stress in this hectic world? In this article, I’ll introduce you to a concept that can completely transform your view of reality, your brain, and your emotions.

Let’s get right to the point: nondual hypnosis is a fascinating term. To be honest, when you put“hypnosis” and“nonduality” side by side, for some people it’s almost like swearing in church. They seem to be two complete opposites. But precisely because they are two apparent opposites, the combination is so incredibly powerful.

To understand what nondual hypnosis can do for you, we must first look at the basics: the hypnosis we live in day in and day out.

Watch the video:

1. The Great Hypnosis Show of Life

Everyone is under their own hypnosis. And yes, me too! I’m just as much a part of my own hypnosis show.

What exactly do I mean by that? By nature, we constantly view the world in terms of duality. We categorize everything into boxes:

  • Black versus white
  • Good versus bad
  • Men vs. Women
  • Success versus Failure
  • Safe versus dangerous

We have almost no choice. This is the world and the conditioned reality that has been created for us, and this is how we experience the world every day. Within that hypnosis, we create our very own perception of who we are and what our problems are.

On the other end of the spectrum, we have nonduality (sometimes also called nondualism, although by adding the suffix “-ism” we immediately turn it into a contradiction!).

Nonduality literally means “not two.” It is the realization of unity: there is no separation. There is no separate “I,” and in fact, there is no perception at all[1].

Nondual hypnosis bridges those two seemingly opposing worlds. How? By showing that, in essence, there is no “I” at all that experiences a problem.

2. From “Having” to “Doing”: How Hypnosis Works

Now, I do understand that not everyone is immediately open to this. And that’s okay! I don’t have to force anything on anyone. But in my book, I also write about this in detail: you don’t “have” it—you “do” it.

Shifting our mindset from “having” to “doing” is a crucial step toward freeing yourself from mental blocks[2]. Why? Because this subtly integrates the non-dual concept into the practice of hypnosis.

Take a look at the difference:

  • Have: This refers to physical objects. For example, I have a pen. Here, there is a clear form. But people are also quick to say, “I have a fear” or “I have depression.”
  • The problem: Anxiety isn’t a physical thing. It’s not something you can grab, put in a box, or lay on a table. If it isn’t a tangible object, it doesn’t actually exist as a separate “thing” at all!

Still, you can feel it. And as soon as you begin to realize that you don’t “have” fear, but rather that you “do” fear (your brain is carrying out a process), something changes. Suddenly, while you do feel fear, you also realize that you might just as well start feeling something else. You regain control.

3. Where the True Nondual Giant Awakens

That shift from “having” to “doing” is fantastic, but strictly speaking, it’s still dualistic. The true nondual approach actually begins a step deeper:

No one actually feels anything. There is no fixed “self” that experiences fear. The imagined “body” experiences fear—not you.

By separating yourself from the emotion, immediate relief is felt. When people are open to it, we remove that identification. And that makes life a thousand times easier. Because if it’s not you, you no longer have to fight it. Then all you have to do is simply be with it.

How can you simply “go with it”?

There are three ways for the human mind to cope with and resolve emotions and stress:

  1. In the NOW (feeling it through): You simply feel the emotion in the present moment, without an imaginary “little self” spinning a whole story around it. Did you know that a pure chemical emotion in your body lasts only 90 seconds[3]? As long as you don’t add fuel to the fire! But what do we often do instead? Our “self” starts to identify with the emotion and cries out: “I feel so terrible, and this is because of yesterday—and what if it’s still like this tomorrow?!” Bam! The oil’s on the fire, and the emotion lasts for hours.
  2. Through the PAST: We’ll go back in your mind to the past. There, we’ll dissolve the unconscious, automatic program that triggers the reaction. Because the old program has been dismantled, you no longer feel the fear in the PRESENT.
  3. Through the FUTURE: We focus the mind on the future: “Right now I feel this way, but soon—tomorrow or next week—this will change, and I’ll feel completely fine again.”

Actually, of course, it’s always NOW. Because even when you’re working with the past or the future, you’re doing so in the present moment. But these approaches offer concrete tools and techniques to return to the peace of the moment in this world.

4. Why does hypnosis work so well for this?

Hypnotherapeutic techniques are by far the most effective way to achieve this[4]. Why? Because we’re already in a state of hypnosis!

People believe all sorts of things. They believe they aren’t good enough, that the world is dangerous, or that they’re stuck in their patterns. And that’s understandable. But what they often don’t realize is that, deep down, they’re already in a place where, in essence, everything is just fine.

Everything is fine. Everything you’re experiencing is merely part of this temporary reality. You don’t have to do anything about it. Of course, you’re free to do whatever you want with it (it’s fun to shape your life), but essentially, you’re already completely safe, at ease, and totally okay.

Since most people don’t feel that way because of their everyday hypnosis, I use nondual hypnosis. My message is:

  1. I know that, deep down, you’re already safe and okay.
  2. Anything we do with hypnosis right now to make your life in this world a little more pleasant is a bonus. I’m happy to help you with that!
  3. But at the same time, I want you to realize that, on a deeper level, there’s nothing to be afraid of.

5. Massaging Reality

Not everyone is immediately ready for such a radical shift. For some, the direct nondual approach is immediately clear and liberating. For others, it’s more of a process of “let it sink in.”

We gently instill that idea. And such a thought will naturally sprout, take root, grow, and who knows—maybe eventually take hold. Will it really take hold? That’s not up to me. That’s up to the person themselves.

Most people simply want to get from A to B. They want to move from “bad hypnosis” (fear, panic, overstimulation) to “good hypnosis” (calm, self-confidence, enjoyment). And you know what? That’s perfectly fine! That’s absolutely okay.

But as long as people don’t realize they’re part of one big hypnosis show, things won’t fundamentally improve all that much. Yes, there will be temporary improvements. Sometimes even for quite a while! But ultimately, in this physical world, you’ll lose everything eventually:

  • Your Youthful Beauty
  • Your physical strength
  • Your possessions
  • Your physical body itself

6. What’s left?

That brings us to the ultimate question that changes everything:

What remains when you take everything away? What is already there that can never be lost? What is it that was never born and will never die?

Once you truly realize that, you’ll see that everything we chase after in the outside world is really just a substitute for happiness. And is that a bad thing? Not at all, of course not! Feel free to enjoy the beautiful things in life.

But nondual hypnosis helps you loosen the grip of identification (that rigid“little self”) on the body, fleeting thoughts, and surging emotions. And believe me: that alone brings an incredible, indescribable sense of freedom. Because the tension of identification is one of the greatest causes of human suffering.

Sorry, but I don’t agree with that anymore. What can never be lost is the soul. And the soul is love, truth, courage, and truly feeling at home. And my soul wants “things,” even here in this world. If I don’t follow those desires, it gets depressing. P.S. Congrats
