The hypnosis of the pharmaceutical industry
The government campaign a while ago that it's OK to discuss your depression or anxiety really horrifies me. People put on a shirt with the text of their anxiety or depression and then suddenly they `are' it. This is then their identity
Simply discussing, reinforcing, and repeating the issue doesn’t help; you only reinforce the feeling that you have it, and then you become a victim of the condition. That campaign creates a victim mentality in society. Scientific research shows, for example, that if you have a problem with depression and then start talking about this problem, it intensifies the depressive symptoms. So talking about depression sometimes helps and sometimes doesn’t[1].
Of course, it's okay to talk about your problems.
But those shirts? Just burn them right away! You're not going to see yourself as a victim, are you?
In the end, you don't have it, you do it.
You’re scaring me.
You’re dealing with depression.
I’ve been through this myself. Even now, I sometimes lie on the couch and just feel like I’ve had enough. From age15 to30, I struggled with depression and addictions. So I understand if you’re dealing with these issues yourself.
I also know that the moment I let go of the idea that I was a victim of my addiction, my family, my past, or even karma—I said, “I’m doing this myself.” Ultimately, these aren’t things. It’s intense when you claim that you’re doing it yourself.
But when you start to believe the hypnosis that it stems from your past—which is mainly a construct in your mind—remember that everything exists in the present, and your brain creates the past as well; even the memories of things you claim are real are distorted.
If you had a bad childhood, I can use hypnosis to change it in your memory to a good childhood.
Because when you make it a topic of discussion and keep repeating it, that becomes the lens through which you view your past. Then you suddenly think: “Man, I was always depressed, but I just didn’t know it.” I was one big depression when I looked at my past, but now I don’t see it that way anymore. Of course, it’s still the same, but my brain distorts it because my focus is different now. Now I think it was actually a pretty good time—though of course I know it wasn’t always fun. But that was true back then, too; back then I thought it wasn’t fun, even though it was actually fun sometimes.
With a shirt like that, you're going to grab it and say you got it. But fuck that, you just do it. You may not understand how you do it, but claim it back.
Don't go all cash in that they can hypnotize you that you are a victim.
You’re not going to identify with a problem, are you? You’re a winner!
In my opinion, this campaign is a very good marketing ploy by the pharmaceutical industry. Because this will make you feel this way and feel like you need medicine.
I'm not saying they sponsor it, but I wouldn't be surprised either.
There is also discussion in the scientific community whether the World Health Organization's advice to talk about depression is not a kind of system to extend the influence of the pharmaceutical industry to less developed countries[2]. And that the WHO is influenced, we have found out by now.
Because the only ones who benefit are them.
Because it will make you take more pills. 1.2 million people take antidepressants in the Netherlands.
It is a large victim society.
Men aren’t allowed to be men. If you are, you’re a selfish person or even a narcissist. If you’re an alpha male, you’re not a good person—none of that is allowed.
The Netherlands is an incredibly feminine society. Of course it is good that everyone should have equal rights. It's all crooked and lopsided now, and that's not good either.
It really hits the spot.
Women are also no longer allowed to be women and everyone is on pills.
This is not okay. That victim mindset is not good for many people either. Then on top of that comes the fake reality of social media which triggers all sorts of things.
So burn the shirt if you happen to have it. Take charge for yourself. Establish yourself as the miracle that you are. Claim that, you make your heart beat, blood flow, bacteria leave your body, your brain work. You don't know how, but you do. So claim that also then because depression you also do, but you don't know how. So claim the good things also that you don't know how you do.
Then you are telling the truth more than if you are going to dismiss yourself as a victim with depression. Because if you think about it, you don't have it, you do it. You can't even grasp it. If indeed you start believing you won't get rid of it, then they are going to say you have to learn to deal with it.
You do something and you can do something else, too.
It starts as early as school, with all those tests that make you think you might not be good enough. Then later, with social media, you get that feeling because everyone only shows the good stuff.
Those bad feelings, you can wallow in that, I even spent years doing that, but I did it. You can learn to start doing something different. You can look at this 4 ways.
Physically, what am I putting into my body? If you eat pink cookies all day, it will naturally make you depressed and fat. Sugar is poison, and that often triggers those kinds of feelings as well.
Not exercising also has an effect. Exercising also has an effect. Not feeling like exercising is bullshit, you just have to do it. Then you'll feel better.
This doesn’t always work out, and you might think you’ve failed, but you just keep going.
Eating vegetables is also very important. For example, 500 grams of green vegetables can have a significant effect. Eating spinach has a very different effect than eating pink cookies.
It's not higher math.
Sleeping 8 hours a day is a good thing to do. If you can't manage this, you need to train and practice it.
Can't, can't or whatever? Sleeping, eating and exercising properly will already solve many problems.
Still not working? Then you should seek therapy—perhaps you’re dealing with trauma or another issue. Once you resolve the problem, you’ll be able to move forward again. This can be achieved through hypnosis.
If that's not enough, look at your beliefs about life. Your ideas about how the world works and you need to change them. Again, this can be done with hypnosis.
Of course, you may suddenly start binge eating pink cakes again and then you notice the effect immediately and change it again. Then you move on again. You do it.
I became depressed due to emotional trauma. Because I didn’t do anything about it, it only got worse. It can happen to you, too, and it’s easier to blame someone else. I did that, too, but at a certain point, it stopped working.
Then I had to resolve my emotional trauma. No more doing addictions. I started training hard and eating right and then I was a completely different person. If I can do it as a junk to a successful entrepreneur then anyone can.
I succeeded, and scientific research shows that you too can be helped with depressive symptoms when you are recovering from addiction. The combination of hypnosis with cognitive behavioral therapy helps people stop doing the depression[3]. It was no coincidence that this worked for me, it has been researched and so can certainly help other people get rid of behaviors and feelings that are not helpful as well.
It's not necessarily easy.
But I would like you to begin to see that you are a miracle. You are truly amazing. You do stupid things sometimes, but who doesn't? And you do many genius things, claim those too!

Because hypnosis has had such an impact on my life, I want to tell and teach everyone all about it. I started learning it myself and it is the foundation of the Hypnosis Institute Netherlands.
Want to help yourself or others get rid of anxiety, depression and other awkward feelings or behaviors? Then delve into hypnosis.
At the Hypnosis Institute of the Netherlands, for example, you can take a Hypnosis Playshop, attend a seminar, or enroll in the training program to become a hypnotherapist yourself. The courses are offered both in person and online. So you can also learn more about hypnosis from home!
