The creator: you are the god in your life

A while back, I was a guest on Ismail Ilgun’s podcast—he’s also known as the “troll vlogger”—and during the episode, I said: “I am the creator. I am God.” A wonderful conversation followed.

You create your own world

Because you create your own world. The world is in your head and you project it outside of you. Who else does that? Then you are the god of your world, the creator of your world.

In this we found each other because the Bible and the Qur'an talk about this. For example, he gave some passages from the Quran and then I thought, "Actually, it's just in there."

You are the creator of your world. If you follow that through, you can say, "I am the god of my own world. And so are you."

So if we all collectively create the world, then we are all a god. If you follow that through, that's the one thing we all have in common.

Everything else may differ. When we look at one another, we see a completely different person, with different ideas and beliefs.

But one thing we do have in common is that we are all the creators of our own world.

The word god may bring up very different associations for you than it does for me. For me, God is the creator and I create, so I am a god. So for me, one plus one is two, but I understand if other people still find this a bridge too far.

But ask yourself: who else creates this world other than you? You project this world. Light enters your eyes, and you then form an image of it in your visual cortex, which you project outward. You’ve never stepped outside your own mind to see how things really are.

Your senses make pictures. In Russia in the 1960s there were researchers who taught blind people to read with their fingers. This was not with Braille, but they taught people to make pictures with those fingers. So you can do that.

So who are you kidding? Your senses make something up and you project it outward.

You create that and find some.

Your ego (sense of self) and the world

You can extend this to the idea that you’re projecting a story. Who does that, then? “I” do, and that “I” of yours wants to be a god. That little “I” enjoys receiving a kind of recognition for it—like, “Look, I’m the creator of my world.”

We are all light and love and everyone has some of that split off by the story we have.

Adam and Eve were in the paradise of light and love, but we wanted more and then we split off. And we can go right back, that's a decision. This means seeing the light behind the story.

This is often unlearning all kinds of opinions, things and judgments.

It is also that you realize that your "I" does not exist at all. It is just a projection, it is just an idea that very much wants to be or do the same as God. But we often think "we can do it better."

I can make anything better or improve it.

Perhaps this is recognizable to you.

You can always get stronger, get better at music, get better at ...

This pursuit of something that makes you who you are. In principle, that doesn’t hold you back. It’s fine. Just let the flow of life take its course.

Then you naturally walk that path.

Your “I” will still say that it did it on its own. But you just go with the flow and realize that you’re simply going with it—and that it’s not actually your “I.”

All the things you do to improve that you say you are doing are not true. Because it has already happened and it is happening and then you start appropriating that for yourself.

That sounds weird, because you'll say, "Yeah but I work out, right? I made that goal, right? I'm doing this or that, right? I won, right? Me, me me me?"

Yes, that's all right. Then your IC appropriates it. Until you find out that life gives you what has already been given. You couldn't have done anything but win.

There are those who also train hard, but you won.

Life is always ahead of you.

You might then ask yourself why you started training. You did it because that’s how you felt, because you were going to do it. Incidentally, this is something that more people do in this way[1].

Why did you fall into a black hole after that, then?

Because they had to.

When you can see that, and this is pretty killer for your Self, you realize: God has already taken care of it.

Life is for you

If you just let the story run its course, things always go a lot better than how you want them to.

I always fall into the trap of slowing things down or wanting to speed things up.

At the moment, I am mostly slowing down. Somehow I know I just have to let go and trust what will happen. But somewhere there is still a kind of fear of the light and power that I am. So not the fear of something going wrong.

Nelson Mandela also once said that people are not afraid of darkness, but of the light that they are.

Maybe you've experienced it yourself. That you feel like you are bigger than your body. To claim that light, I think, is still a thing.

So I'm practicing that by saying, for example:

I am the creator of my reality. This is a story, and behind it lies light.

Sometimes it happens to us that we suddenly look in the mirror or experience and feel

"wow, this is just us. Wow, what power"

And if we dare to claim this power, all problems are solved very quickly.

But that doesn't happen because you say I do:

"No, it can be better and you have to work hard and do it the way it should be done."

But when you peel all that off and see who you really are, it's immediately resolved.

I am very aware of that.

I am very curious to know if you have experienced this and if it scares you.

Because imagine standing in that power? It makes me feel like losing everything and getting everything.

Again, that sounds very paradoxical.

That everything I've amassed in relationships, friendships and money all falls away. That the whole story dissolves.

And I get everything in the process.

If we all do this together and maybe we need help with it. Maybe we can all do it.

For example, we can think of each other.

Because I think we are all our creator, but I also think we are all afraid to claim it.

But I also believe that if we solve that, all problems can be solved.

Realizing that you yourself are the creator in your life is also a sign of personal growth. This is one of the factors that makes you feel good about yourself. Other factors include:

  • Self-acceptance;
  • Good relationships with other people;
  • Autonomy (being able to do what you feel like doing);
  • Being able to create an environment that is good for you;
  • Having a purpose in your life[2].

When you consider these factors, you’ll see that you actually don’t have to do much. Accepting yourself is, as it were, going with the flow of who you are. Having a purpose in life can mean discovering that purpose by going with that flow.

Most of the time, you naturally create an environment that is good for you. For example, you furnish your home with things that make you happy. You often do this based on feeling, on that flow.

Help with letting go of your I and seeing yourself as a creator

Of course, it can be difficult to accept the flow in your life and see yourself as a creator.

Accepting that flow can be made easier with hypnosis. For example, if you always feel like everything is a struggle and that you have to work hard for everything, you can use hypnosis to figure out where that feeling comes from and let it go.

You can embrace the flow of your life and learn that life is meant for you. You can do this, for example, through visualizations, by recalling memories where this was very clear, and by repeating hypnotic suggestions.

I explain exactly how all of this works in the free online masterclass on hypnosis.
