Delusions: come out of your hypnosis

I always have to laugh a little when people say they don't believe in hypnosis. Because everyone is in their own hypnosis. Everyone suffers from delusions to a greater or lesser degree. This is also why everyone can interpret reality slightly differently.

For example, I don't know anyone who is "out of hypnosis." When you are born, we assume for a moment that you are a blank page. You don't know anything. What we know for sure is that the first 7-8 years are very decisive for how you see your life, because that's where you get a lot of suggestions and they are unique to you.

From your father you get suggestions. From your mother you get suggestions. From your siblings you also get suggestions. The class you are in, the teacher you have and the things you experience give you all kinds of suggestions.

And the hypnosis you get as a result is unique. As a result, you also have a unique personality. You then filter reality in a way that is unique to you.

So because this may be somewhat different from how other people see this, you may be somewhat delusional, but you only find that out when you start checking your hypnosis and then you can come out of your hypnosis or out of your delusion.

So it's nice to be able to interact with people who filter their reality somewhat similarly. Only five percent of people do this in roughly the same way and have roughly the same ideas about reality. With those people, you feel a click.

But even then, you are unique, thanks to the suggestions and experiences and such that you have had.

Because imagine if we stripped all that away. Who are you then? That's hard to answer.

Because any label you give yourself then distracts from the reality of not knowing.

"Yes, I am one with everything."

Yes, they can, but who are you?

Only then will you be out of hypnosis.

You can't stay in that for long, out of hypnosis, because how will you live?

For example, if you want to explain what you are experiencing, you need your hypnosis again for that explanation.

So how can you still become aware of your hypnosis, of perhaps your delusion?

For example, you can first say to yourself, "What is mine now and what is not mine?"

Then you often find out that 80 percent are not yours. You may have the same walk as your father. That doesn't matter otherwise, but it's a small example of hypnosis.

Other things, such as "you are so and so" labels, of which you may wonder how useful they are to you.

What ideas are driving your behavior?

Pleasegedrag may have been very useful for getting something in the past, but now it probably doesn't work for you. If you take a moment to wonder if it's still useful, you may find that it doesn't make sense.

For example, you can ask yourself what certain behaviors, such as please behavior, are still getting you.

What does it get me?

This can be anything such as security and money.

What am I avoiding?

Imagine if you quit, what would happen? With this answer, you'll know what you're doing it for.

It may not be the best, but it gets me something or I avoid this.

Or you may be thinking, "This makes no sense at all, because I can get my security - or anything else - any other way. So why should I?"

From there, you need to start daring.

Release delusions

You have to dare to let go of the (delusional) idea. Just letting go often sounds very simple. You think I'm going to let go of the past, I'm going to let go of the cause, I'm going to let go of the guilt.

I get to understand why I really do it and also understand why others do what they do.

At that point, you can say you're going to get what you love.

After all, what do you want?

A new job or stepping up to that person you've liked for a long time. You want to take that trip around the world or make up with that one person.

Then you do.

Then get that.

First, though, it involves all the steps you need to take. First, you have to become aware of what your ideas about reality are. You have to understand your own hypnosis.

You need to come out of your own hypnosis.

You need to know what it gets you and what you avoid.

Only then can you make decisions. Only then can you decide if you can do or think something different.

Some delusions you just don't want to get rid of

Imagine taking away the problem? Some problems only make your life worse when you take them away.

What about.

Imagine you are 55 and have had a traumatic experience. You were rejected at 19 because of this. You have been disapproved all your life and you are on medication. No one can help you and in one session your problem is gone.

Then you can get back to work.

Think that's better? You have ten more years to work and then you can retire. You have your whole life set up to be disapproved.

Then a number of things can happen:

  1. Why haven't they done that with you before? Then think of all your missed opportunities.
  2. What am I going to do with the rest of my life?
  3. I now lose all my securities, such as benefits and the like.

I once had session with one such person. It didn't work out, of course it didn't. Because just thinking back on all those missed opportunities, that alone can make you dead unhappy.

Of course, you can mentor him.

So what is the goal? The UWV's only goal is to get that man back to work so they don't have to give him benefits. But that's what they should have done 30 years earlier.

Then know what it is and then have the courage to let go.

So let go and grab something again. I wish you the best of luck with that.

Delusions about others

We've mostly talked about personal smaller delusions above, but you can also have ideas about other people that don't have to be true at all.

For example, some people may have persistent feelings or ideas that their partner is cheating, when this is not the case at all.

Sometimes you can quickly stop such a delusion by asking your partner to look through his or her phone, for example, although this will not do your relationship any good either, as it is a clear signal of distrust.

But it really becomes a problem when your partner clearly has nothing to hide and you still find that he or she has cheated.

Clinical Delusions

We've mostly talked about small delusions now. Ideas that cause you to lack self-confidence and the like.

But you may also suffer from more serious delusions, such as thinking you are constantly being haunted.

When you talk about clinical delusion, this is often an idea you have that doesn't fit the context of your life. For example, if you have a normal life and you suddenly think the Secret Service is after you, this is often a sign of a delusion. People with this type of delusion may quit their jobs and cut ties with their families as a result.

You may then also suffer from dementia or schizophrenia[1].

This is very different from a mistaken belief about how life works, a small delusion. These cannot be resolved with hypnosis either. In fact, someone with schizophrenia symptoms or psychoses should absolutely not be helped with hypnosis.

There are several types of clinical delusions that people may suffer from, such as the idea that a higher power is communicating with them through messages via license plates and the like.

Or the delusion that the person in the mirror is not you, but rather a stranger. Or the delusion that your partner is not your partner but a double.

If you suffer from a minor delusion, or your personal hypnosis, a hypnotherapist can help you figure out if your beliefs are correct or not.

On the contrary, if you suffer from clinical delusions, seek help from your doctor. A hypnotherapist may not help you then, because you will find it difficult to separate reality from fantasy.
