Outcome: how important is it?

Results, I actually want to be less concerned with it, but I find that when I post something on social media, I still want to look at the results. Then I see that one video does better than the other. Then I want all the videos to do well, have a certain reach and be shared a certain number of times.

But then again, how important is this really?

For example, do you suffer from wanting to get results, but find that it gets in the way of other parts of your life? Then this blog was written for you.

Meaning Result

Result is an outcome or consequence of a particular action[1]. In my case, the action then was posting a video on social media and the result was how many people had seen the video.

So results are the reaction after an action.

In itself, focusing on results is not a bad thing, but this can make you so uptight about it that you just miss the mark. For example, research shows that students at so-called progressive schools find that those schools focus so much on developing progressive ideas in students, that result, that daily activities and problems of students are not solved[2].

For example, I can be so focused on the videos on social media that I forget to have other activities with my business that may also be beneficial and may be more responsive to my followers' needs.

In addition, you can also focus so much on results because you are somehow in a position of power. If you feel that you are powerful, this can cause you to look at certain things very abstractly - what are the numbers? - and that can even lead to worse results[3].

Balancing peace and wanting results

For example, if I look at my results now and how I saw this before, what I am achieving now would have been incredible. Then I would be very happy, but somewhere it's never enough.

While you might as well be in a state of ultimate happiness. Results don't matter and you just feel good. You have a moment of ultimate happiness and pure love, but then you suddenly have to think about that little movie that didn't have enough reach or interaction for your feelings. That is then your ego disturbing your peace.

Results and perfectionism

Another thing that can arise from your ego is perfectionism , which is often linked to results. Your focus then is on a perfect result after your action. With students who change schools and then find that their results drop, you often see them suffer from anger, shame and even guilt[4].

It does depend on the type of perfectionism they have. After all, you can be perfectionist for your environment and how you want to come across or you want to be perfect from within yourself and what others think doesn't matter.

Dealing with outcome desires

If you are unbalanced with your results for desires or suffer from unhealthy perfectionism, it is helpful to deal differently with your desires for certain results.

There are multiple ways you can deal with this.

Out of your desires

Speaking out loud what's bothering you can already solve it. Then it's out of your head and everything becomes lighter and more airy. Keeping everything inside, even your dissatisfaction with a result not achieved, often brings tension and that is not pleasant.

Pronounced thus 😊.

Humor

When you do express it, use humor. This is a technique I use with many problems, such as trauma (although wanting results is not really traumatic).

Then people repeat something in that funny humorous tone and suddenly the trauma is no longer trauma, but something traumatic. That you think of: "Wow, why was this such a problem for me?" That they're glad it's over or that it feels lighter.

In a funny tone, you can also express your desire for results, so that you are less bothered by what you want. That it gets a little lighter.

For example, I say, "Then you're forty and you have kids and all of a sudden it's: but has my video been seen enough?" In this way, you then actually reframe the importance of your result and this again makes it much less important. Humor reduces the tension[5] you can get from wanting certain results.

The use of humor does depend on the problem you want to get a result for. If it's something like the reach of a video on social media it can't hurt, but researchers aren't quite sure how good humor is in a therapeutic setting. So that depends a little bit on how you're put together.

It is well established that the use of humor is good for lowering your blood pressure, improving your immune system and good chemicals in your brain[6].

Underlying beliefs about results

But why is the result actually important enough to stress about? What does that result say? It may be that the result sends a certain message for you.

For example, if my video has little interaction I may think that I am not liked, not good enough, that I am not getting recognition and not appreciated. This is obviously not true, but if you feel this way it says something about underlying beliefs that make the outcome important to you.

With hypnotherapy, you can figure out and change these kinds of underlying beliefs to reduce the importance of the outcome and reduce stress[7]. For example, if you think the result says something about your self-esteem or whatever, you can use hypnosis to find out where that belief comes from.

Sometimes just a conversation under hypnosis is enough to make you realize certain things, and sometimes more is needed. With regression , for example, you can find out when a certain belief was formed. Like the belief that you have to get high grades in school so that people will love you. In your adult life, for example, this can become the urge that you have to have a lot of reach on social media so that people love you 😉 . Sometimes it can lead to perfectionism.

You can then revisit that moment with your current knowledge. The hypnotherapist will help you with this. Sometimes this revisiting is enough to change the belief so that you no longer suffer from that stress. Sometimes more is needed. Then, for example, you can have a conversation in your mind with your inner child - yourself in that memory - so that you change the situation in your mind. This can also have a healing effect and cause the belief to change.

What if you get your desired results?

The best part is, when you stop being so uptight about what you want to achieve, you often achieve what you want to achieve. But then what happens? For example, you often see that when people receive appreciation, such as in the form of applause, they don't know how to handle it.

That applause should be quickly cut short again. That compliment you get should be quickly downplayed with that something was really cheap or something.

You can also think of it as a time when you can take a moment to enjoy your harvest. You've worked hard to get that applause, let that love engulf you for a moment and enjoy it.

Hypnosis also allows you to practice in advance how you react in certain situations. For example, that you say "thank you" to a compliment, that you don't wave away applause and that you just get happy for a moment.

To go back to the question of how important results are now, of course that depends on what you want to get the results for. But the point of this blog was not to stop you from getting the result. The intention is that you just don't want to be stressed about it anymore. Hypnosis and techniques used in hypnosis can do a lot to reduce that stress so that you can perform actions in a relaxed way for results.

The best part is that hypnotherapy can even be given via Skype or other online calling tools[8]. It is slightly less effective than in real life, but certainly still effective enough.
