Mindset: adapting to get a rock-solid mindset

Changing your mindset so that it becomes ironclad to achieve certain goals is something many people want. To change your mindset, however, it is helpful to know what it is now. After all, then you have an idea of how you can influence your mindset

Mindset meaning

Mindset is a term that encompasses many things about things you do for a particular reason. If someone asks you what your mindset is, it is often difficult to answer. You can go in many directions with the meaning of mindset.

Your mindset is a way you think. Thinking is something you do. It often feels like your mindset is fixed, but it doesn't have to be. After all, mindsets can be influenced.

In addition, you can say that mindset is a set of beliefs. A set of things you believe and think. Because of this, you do, see and hear things and have an idea of who you are.

Then you also have feeling. That's also something you do. You feel something and about that you believe and think something. In my case, the order of how I approach things is feeling, doing, thinking and believing. This order is different for everyone.

The feeling, thinking and believing piece can also be referred to as your mindset.

Thinking can be different for everyone. Some people think in sounds, who have some kind of voice in their head. You also have people who think in images, who see images in front of them. Then you also have people who think in feelings, those are feeling people. These are already three variations of thinking: seeing, hearing and feeling.

The mindset then is think, hear, feel and see.

Mindset is often used in connection with goals you want to achieve. So do scientists. For example, mindset is studied in connection with school, donating to charities, racism and much more[1].

Mindset coaching

When you want mindset coaching, it's often because you don't just want to change your mindset, you want to change what you do. You have a particular goal with it.

Wanting to change something you do is often easier with the right mindset, so I'll give you a push with mindset coaching.

To change your mindset, it's important to bring it completely on yourself. You want to do something, because of this or for this you are going to think and believe something. The order of thinking, doing and believing can be different for everyone.

For example, I'm someone who does first and then thinks about whether what I've done is helpful or not. You also have people who think first and then do something. Then you also have people who do nothing and think, but again they believe all kinds of things 😉 .

When something emotional happens, I want to take immediate action. This is not always helpful, because sometimes you need to calm down and think calmly about your best response first, rather than following your instinctive reaction.

To change your mindset so that you don't take immediate action during emotional events, for example, it is important to use all factors within a mindset. If you only think in sound in thought, that can make you all weird. It already becomes easier if you visualize something and then think about it with sound. Then you get completely different thoughts. Then you also get the part about feeling added. Your visualization makes you want to achieve and feel good. This helps you get a rock-solid mindset.

So it's important to see what you want to achieve in front of you, want it and feel good about it.

Next, you want to anchor this. For example, you also need to believe that you can achieve this goal, that you are worthy of achieving your goal. Is this unequivocal?

This can include anything, such as your confidence in yourself, in the environment and even the economy can be included. It comes down to whether you believe in it completely.

This is the cement, otherwise the rest is loose sand. This belief creates reality.

Another component is whether you think your goal is important enough. This is akin to believing, but is it important enough for you to believe in it? Then, after all, it won't be anything either.

Do you think it's as important as breathing right now?

In fact, all this together creates perseverance. This ensures that you reach your goal.

Few people are 100% sure they are going to reach their goals. This is okay. You don't have to live a goal-oriented life, but it is helpful to realize the things you really care about.

If you want this, you have to be engaged in seeing, hearing and feeling. Then you have to believe wholeheartedly that you can do this and that you will meet the right people to achieve it all.

It's important to believe in it rock solid. You will have doubts, but believing will solve the problems in your path.

Your goal may be important enough to spend years on it. You are working on it in your mind all the time.

If you need more help with this, you can also get coaching from a hypnotherapist. They will help you, for example, with visualizations and remove blocking beliefs.

Mindset effect

Your mindset has a lot of effect on what you do, as you may have already understood. You may also have already understood that I clearly believe that you can change your mindset. That you can influence all sorts of things.

There are also those who have none. There is also a distinction between a growth mindset and a fixed mindset

If you suffer from beliefs that you cannot change, it is often referred to as a fixed mindset. On the contrary, if you believe that you can change something about yourself, that is a growth mindset.

Fortunately, you can get a growth mindset with a little help. Having that kind of mindset is also proven to be effective. For example, school students often feel better when they have a growth mindset and also participate better in classes[2].

So the effect of your mindset may indeed be that you do more to achieve something because you indeed believe you can.

Also in the research on intervening in racism, it appears that if people are encouraged to have some sort of moral mindset this helps them intervene more often in racist situations[3].

The effect of an education based on things you are good at that gives you a mindset to focus on what you are already good at also has good effects on well-being in the rest of your life and to grow further in what you are already good at[4].

So your mindset definitely has an effect on how you feel, what actions you take, and therefore, how more likely you are to achieve your goals.

Mindset journal

You can use a journal in several ways to improve your mindset. First, you can simply keep a journal in which you write how you feel on a day and what causes it.

With this, you can, for example, find out what activities you are actually not thinking positively about and then do something about it; for example, by visualizing your goal and strengthening your belief that you can achieve that goal.

Another way you can use a mindset journal is to write down three positive things from that day each day. This does require you to focus more on what is positive in your life. You can get more positive thoughts when they are normally more on the negative side.

Weight Loss Mindset

When you want to lose weight, it is helpful that you focus on your health. Research shows that when you focus on how healthy the food is before selecting your lunch, it helps you eat less and thus lose more weight[5].

Mindset gym

In the gym or gym, mindset is also very important. You sometimes hear from athletes that they have to go through the pain barrier to perform well. With hypnosis we try to improve sports performance in a good way, without necessarily using the pain threshold. We then do this with high performance hypnosis. This then helps athletes perform better, think better and get more in the flow[6].

So with hypnosis, you can do an awful lot to improve your mindset for various goals. It can influence what you believe about yourself, giving you the right mindset to achieve your goals?
