Parenting is done with hypnosis

Whether you believe it or not. Every parent is a hypnotist. Are you a parent of a child? Then you are a hypnotist, even if you don't believe in hypnosis. 'Yes but, Ed, I don't believe in hypnosis at all.' Doesn't matter! You are simply a hypnotist, because your children are in hypnosis. In fact, your children are in hypnosis in the ages of 0 to 8. Their brain is then at that frequency of brain waves. That automatically makes you a hypnotist, so welcome to the club 😉.

Now you may be thinking, How am I supposed to do that? That's very simple, as you can find a lot online about hypnosis and how to use it. What I want to give you in particular is the influence of the suggestions you give.

Not just those you give, but those you teach.

As an example. Little Jonny comes in and Mommy is angry. Jonny says "Mommy are you angry?" and Mommy says "No, I'm not angry."

But little Jonny is in hypnosis. Who feels everything, sees everything, hears everything, smells everything, tastes everything. Who is in that zone and in that flow. So he feels that his mother is angry, but has now learned that when you are angry you say you are not angry.

With this, he has also learned how he will later tell his children. If little Jonny is angry and his children speak to him about it. Then big Jonny will say "No way, nothing's wrong." Because that is how he has learned. He has picked this up unconsciously.

Not even with a thought of "this is how it should be" no this is how it is.

This is just one situation. This goes on 24/7. So you are then always a hypnotist giving suggestions, reciting things. Who experiences all kinds of things and Jonny sees that and experiences that as well.

Or that things are different inside than outside. Say you are very friendly to Uncle Fred outside, but once inside we say, "Well that Uncle Fred is a jerk, too. Okay, so that's how we do it, that's how we treat people. Think Sjonnie then. Little Sjonnie is learning to do all that too! And very soon, because of course he is going to test that. He thinks hey, does this work at school? I will pretend to be friends with everyone and then I will do other things. Who do you think they got that from?

Of course, we don't like that as parents. I myself am a parent of 4 children and then when you see that behavior mirrored you think 'Oh, I hope I didn't do that...' But of course deep down you know that's the case.

It's not your fault either, but it is your responsibility.

Therefore, it works very well for you as a parent to do something about yourself. Because if you start changing things internally, resolving traumas, thinking differently, exercising, eating healthier, sleeping. Then your children are going to imitate that as well. This may take some time.

That's fine. Maybe you've been good for a long time, but maybe not before that, and your kids copy that, too. At some point they adopt your good sides. It really does work! (I can know as a former addicted construction worker).

You can wait for those kids, but it's better to do it yourself. It may also be quite scary to realize that your children will become the product of your own hypnosis. Then you might say they have a mind of their own ... well, a little. For the most part, they just take over from mom and dad. So it really works when parents start doing personal development or adopting good habits, because then those kids are going to do the same.

So if you have a problem with your children, work on yourself!

Science about parents and hypnosis

As early as the 1970s, hypnosis therapists indicated that in the case of child hypnosis, treatment depends on the influence parents have on their children. For example, parents must know the influence of hypnosis and participate in the treatment[1].

2011 also looked at the role parents have and their hypnotic influence on children. For example, parents should be involved in treatment (as was already known in the 1970s). In addition, attachment between parents and children should be looked at, which can be strengthened with hypnosis.

Scientists even indicate that parents should become aware of their hypnotic influence from the birth of your child! (Exactly as I say it actually)

Indeed, this allows parents to modify their own behavior and change their communication from unhelpful to helpful[2].

So in 2011, science actually indicates that when parents turn to a therapist for their child to make their child "better," the therapist actually has to make the parents "better" as well.

What suggestions help

As mentioned, healthy living is always a useful example to set, but in addition, so "helping" communication is important.

What is always helpful is to focus on what you want rather than what you don't want in your communication with your child.

For example, if you don't want your child to sit around gaming all day, you can say, "I don't want you gaming, go do something else!"

In this case, your child is still hearing gaming, so that's the thought being evoked. What else is also pretty vague. Because you can do so many other things, but he can still imagine that gaming.

It is then more helpful to say, "Otherwise, go read a book or call a friend to play with you." You then focus on what you want, which is a useful activity that either helps your child with reading or with social development, and you then get your child thinking about those activities instead of gaming.

Improve coping with emotions

To return for a moment to the example of denying that you are angry. You are a human being, your child is a human being, and people have emotions they need to learn to deal with. By talking about your feelings, you show your child that that is okay and that that can be a way to deal with emotions.

For example, if you are angry, you can acknowledge that you are angry and calmly explain why you are angry and what you are going to do to be less angry. For example, you can say that mom and dad are angry with each other because the house is such a mess and you are now going to discuss with each other how to clean up the house better with each other so you won't be angry anymore. Maybe your child will even come up with a genius solution.

However, I would not put anger over money on your child. Your child is not supposed to get worried about the house and bills, those are really adult problems after all. Then it's better to say that mom and dad are angry for a moment because some things are not going well and you will now discuss the solution to adult problems.

This is more convenient than teaching your child to deny emotions and see anger as something that makes you especially need to scold each other and throw things. Showing that you are a team with your partner to solve problems and emotions is then a more useful "suggestion."

Removing obstacles with hypnosis

Do you now feel like you can't talk about emotions and set a healthy example? If so, you may be suffering from limiting beliefs. In that case, you can first see a hypnosis expert yourself.

Usually you need 3 sessions to solve a problem or obstacle. In the1st session, you have a sort of exploratory conversation about the problems and why you think you have this problem. During this conversation, the hypnosis expert also has a chance to explore what hypnosis induction works best for you and what techniques can best be used to solve your problem.

In the2nd session, actual therapy often takes place. And in the3rd session, another check is made to see if this was successful and if you haven't still suffered from your problem in the meantime.
