Your awareness: through your life gradually increasing

Consciousness is very interesting and there is much to say about it. Researchers are engaged in deep discussions about what it is now and how it arises. In your life, you are always conscious in some way. And what researchers agree on is that consciousness develops gradually[1].

An adolescent is different from a toddler

To make this clear to you, I want to ask you to think about the following: is an adolescent a better person than a toddler? No, of course not. An adolescent and a toddler can hardly be compared. They are both equally good human beings.

What differs is their awareness.

So you have a certain consciousness your whole life. You have a consciousness as a toddler, preschooler, elementary school student, adolescent, college student and adult or working or teacher.

It's not better or worse, it's just the shape how you look at the world.

That transition from one consciousness to another goes a little faster for some people than others. You can stay in a particular consciousness for a very long time and even if you get older. Your consciousness remains what it is until you gain certain insights.

This is also why you get wiser with age.

Therefore, it is also not necessarily time-bound. Someone who now has the consciousness of a toddler can just become the consciousness of a student.

For example, I currently have the consciousness of a university student. I am not studying at university, but I am aware that I don't know everything, and from everything I learn, I learn, above all, that more and more I don't know. Every piece of new knowledge begs a new question. But I also know that sometimes things just flow and you don't always have to worry.

Questioning what you see

When you're a toddler you don't really question new knowledge that much. If your father, mother or teacher says something, it's just the truth . Period.

Right now you see in society that there are a lot of toddlers and elementary school people in terms of awareness. That's fine, but what is the characteristic of elementary school?

We do what the master says.

By about eighth grade you're often done with it, but especially in third grade and kindergarten you just do what the teacher, the authority, says. What the authority says is true and it just is. You don't question that.

When you learn to read you are not going to doubt it. Even at that stage of awareness, there is zero doubt that what is said is something you are going to do. There is nothing you can do about that. People often don't interfere with that either. Who are not going to say, "No, we are not going to do that at all."

You don't go against it, but that can change in the blink of an eye.

I also meet many preschoolers and elementary school people. Everything I say on my podcasts and put in my blogs doesn't come across. That's not where those preschoolers are yet. Like trying to teach a math sum from five havo to a preschooler.

But with a higher level of awareness, it makes no sense to explain those thoughts and feelings to people with a much lower level of awareness.

In eighth grade, you already have a bit more awareness than a toddler. You do take things from your teachers and parents, but you can also do some discovering and teaching yourself.

At some point, you enter a phase of rebellion. You find out that what you have been told is wrong.

The people demonstrating have that awareness. They are the adolescents, rebels or resistance. The adolescent adolescents.

But even if you have a higher awareness, you can sometimes fall back into adolescent behavior or end of high school behavior.

Then you form groups and hang out with each other. That you show off your moped or your leather jacket. Then you had groups with rock clothes and popular guys and gals. That group formation is good, because that trains your consciousness.

You can't skip that stage.

This is all part of your awareness and consciousness.

Once you get past that, which is often after high school, you move into the next consciousness. You go to school for your degree, but you may have discovered that is not how it really is, but you need that degree to move forward.

So you get a diploma for what you learn in school and for what you are taught which is reality.

Awareness of your own perception

Then in college, that's where you learn more about the idea of your own creation. There you also learn that everything is perception.

The response of your communication lies in the response you get back. You learn that too with NLP and hypnosis. Hypnosis also gives you a very clear understanding of what consciousness is, because it does something to how you feel and how you can look at things. Your brain activity affects this[2].

You learn that it's not "reality," it's "my reality.

This insight has far-reaching implications, as it means that eight billion other people also have their truth and live by it.

This has also taught me that I see my own beliefs in the world and what I don't believe I don't see.

I don't see rape or violence. I don't see it in my world. I do see it in the newspaper and on television, but when I turn those off, there are really only fine people.

That's interesting because not everyone has that.

I was going to figure this out and work on it and work with it. I was going to use hypnosis to help other people change their worldview so they were no longer afraid of anything or anyone, no longer fretting, no longer stuttering or experiencing less or no pain.

Hypnotherapy helps you become aware of how to look at certain experiences in your life as well. A good hypnotherapist will help you reinterpret experiences and change memories so that they no longer bother you[3].

I got better and better at that.

Now I'm somewhere that I think of: "I get this." I got my degree.

Then you move into the university stage where you start to deepen that and disconnect more and more from your projections.

You begin to see more and more through how your ego, your IC, functions. My IC thinks that there is still a lot to achieve and because of that I know that I do not have the diploma yet. With that IC I am now still actively carrying out actions.

While I can also just let it go. Of course then I'm still me, but then it's more going with the flow that's already there. Instead of me paddling hard to achieve something. It's less forced.

You then try to find something better while you can surrender to the flow. That you can surrender to infinite awareness, because what does it matter?

So I'm not there yet, and it will take some time.

That's how I see the university (or my image of that awareness), that you see through that. But you also see that there's no point in explaining the table of six to a toddler. So that too is the level, that you can put yourself in the shoes of a toddler and that that toddler is okay. Everyone has their own growth path and you don't have to direct that. Let that person do what he or she does.

This is interesting for yourself as well. You are just learning and somewhere you feel where your friction is and what you can work on.

You also realize that ultimately you do everything yourself. You become angry yourself and if you notice this you can consciously not be.

Understanding everything allows you to get more into the mindset of a teacher. So that you have compassion for where the other person is in their growth and that you accept that.

Then you can also be the teacher of teachers. That is the master who has realized himself. Who has become one in the whole. You come across these people quite rarely.

But Jesus could have been such a person. We're still talking about that. So somewhere he has infinite consciousness.

But somewhere, therefore, you can realize that you are you and you are everything.
