Transform: Accelerating transformation with hypnosis

Transforming yourself or transforming others. Change is involved, and going through a change is something that can be gradual or very quick. It is sometimes difficult to consciously transform something and to help you speed up the transformation process, you will get insights about transforming and the role hypnosis plays in this blog article.

Transformation meaning

Initially, it is helpful to realize what transformation means. Transformation means that something is transformed or changed. Consider, for example, the transformation of ice, to water when it thaws.

Since you are reading a Hypnosis Institute Netherlands blog here, this blog is about your personal transformation, your change and how it starts from within. You can also think of this as a psychological change.

And this can involve very big and very small things.

Perhaps you want to transform your habits, or maybe you’re struggling with mental challenges that you’d like to transform into mental strengths.

Inner transformation

Inner transformation is important if you want to change something lasting about yourself. For example, if you want to lose weight and you use a crash diet to do so, that is something you can do temporarily because of some external goal you want to achieve.

Like fitting into certain clothes at someone's wedding.

But after the wedding, the need is gone and you'll probably gain weight again.

So then you haven't gone through an inner transformation.

For example, if you want to live healthier or work in a different way altogether, you need changes on another level, such as:

  1. Consciousness
  2. Mindset
  3. Values
  4. Worldview
  5. Beliefs
  6. Spirituality
  7. Connection you feel with other people
  8. Connection with nature[1]

If you find that your life isn’t what you’d like it to be and you’re ready to transform yourself, the first step is to take a good, hard look at who you really are.

To take a moment to reflect on yourself and examine the roles you take on. At the Hypnosis Institute of the Netherlands, we also refer to this as “sharing work.” This can be especially helpful if you struggle with conflicts, such as wanting to have a good time at parties but then feeling guilty every time you’ve had more than one piece of cake or something similar.

If so, you are suffering from internal conflict in your inner parts. Getting clarity about that can be the first step toward an inner transformation that helps you make sustainably healthy choices.

This is something a hypnotherapist helps people with.

People who don’t want to see a hypnotherapist right away can start with mindfulness to gain more insight into their own thoughts and feelings, but without guidance, that rarely leads to transformation.

Increase insight for accelerated transformation process

How many times in your life have you had an “aha” moment that suddenly made you think differently about certain things? That “aha” moment was a moment of new insight, and this new insight changed your beliefs in such a way that you started acting differently.

This is more of a natural transformation process.

But if you are not happy with certain habits you have, such an "aha" moment is not likely to come to you to radically change your habits. People who are concerned with the environment and who want society to change have already realized that they need to give more people such an "aha" moment and that society changes only when someone's inner self changes.

People who want to change can seek help from a hypnotherapist to gain greater insight into themselves. Many of the beliefs that stand in the way of an “aha” moment were actually formed during childhood.

Only then, you were far from knowing everything.

But during that time, you may have learned:

  1. With aggression and anger, people are going to do what I want anyway. (no longer works when you're an adult)
  2. Food is always nice to me. (causes obesity)
  3. I can't say "no." (causes burnout and stress)
  4. I have to be beautiful (everyone gets ugly at some point, so you really have to let go of that at some point).
  5. Dogs are scary (and you can't have fun walking if there are dogs somewhere, and they are everywhere you can have fun walking).

When a hypnotherapist helps people reveal what moment in life has created these types of limiting beliefs, it is often the starting point of transformation.

This starting point is often identified using the regression technique.

Depending on the transformation a person is looking for, a hypnotherapist can use multiple techniques to stimulate a transformation by fixing the limiting belief.

The moment has passed

For example, if you've gotten an obstacle from an anxious moment in which you've been mentally stuck, the fast phobia technique will help give you an "aha" moment that it's all completely irrelevant.

In fact, you can imagine that before that moment nothing was wrong, and a time after that moment everything was actually back to normal. Only those unconscious beliefs then did not get the update that everything was back to normal.

This can, for example, lead to sleep problems because you remain hyper-alert, or cause you to suffer from agoraphobia, a fear of dogs, or similar issues.

The hypnotist then helps people with a visualization to change the feeling at that moment, so that it also has good closure for the subconscious.

Exactly how this technique works is explained in the Hypnosis Institute of the Netherlands’ training program.

Empathize with other people around you

Some situations aren’t scary or anything like that, but require a deeper understanding that you simply don’t have as a child. For example, if you’re bullied as a child, you’re not aware that bullies often do this because they’re not happy at home.

At that point, all you know is that that bully is a huge **** and that it bothers you and makes you feel bad.

During a regression, it can be helpful to empathize with other people who were around you at the time. The moment a belief was formed. For example, if you could never say "no" to chores from your parents and therefore cannot say "no" to your boss now.

In cases like this, it can be helpful to look at that situation from a different angle.

This can give you whole new insights.

Like how that boy or that girl didn’t have it easy and, despite the bullying, still tried to maintain a sense of control. Not the best approach, but okay.

Or like that your parents were very busy and thought it was important that you at least knew how to clean your room. A form of love, just not always conveniently expressed.

These kinds of insights can already help you tremendously in transforming certain limiting beliefs, allowing you to let go of the past and better stand up for yourself.

Conversation with the inner child

Sometimes you have had such a difficult situation that a conversation with the inner child is needed. In that case, you can see your adult self as the best friend or indeed available parent for your inner child.

You can start the conversation with your inner child and give it love. A whole lump of self-love.

This can also help you stop making bad choices in the hope that someone will step in and take care of you like a parent. Instead, you’ll become your own best friend and start making good choices for yourself, because you’ll see that you’re powerful and don’t need to depend on other people to keep your life on track.

These kinds of techniques during hypnotherapy can cause tremendous inner transformations. Whereby you do break habits that you have been unable to break properly for years.

Even severe depression can be alleviated and even transformed away using these kinds of techniques.

How cool is that?

All levels of transformation can be touched with hypnotherapy.
