Spirituality: we are all connected spiritual beings
For me, spirituality is as earthy as can be and not floaty. To my mind, we are beings of connectedness. We are all connected spiritual beings
Spirituality meaning
Spirituality is a bit different from paranormal. I see paranormal more as being able to talk to deceased people and seeing chakras and such.
In my opinion, this doesn't have much to do with spirituality, because you don't have to be able to do this to still be spiritual.
Because spirituality is increasingly referenced in a wide range of contexts, it is also difficult to assign a single, unambiguous meaning to the word. Some people view spirituality as something separate from material things. It is something you cannot grasp.
You would think that religion is spiritual, but there are those who actually believe that spirituality is separate from faith. While yet others find spirituality to be the core of faith or the highest ideal of a particular religion.
Many people describe spirituality as a mystical experience[1]. It is enigmatic or a extrasensory experience. It is an experience that transcends your ego and the needs your ego has at that moment[2].
What is spirituality?
For me, spirituality is realizing that we are all one or there is unity. Realizing that when you give, you are actually giving to yourself. Furthermore, I like the rules of Jesus, so "love yourself" and "love another as yourself," but most people don't even love themselves.
That’s very interesting, because you can’t always love yourself either. You’re often at odds with yourself. For example, you might love one part of yourself, but there’s another part you just can’t stand.
You then want to embrace that, but then there's another part that says you shouldn't and before you know it you're a barrel of judgments (parts 😉 ).
While those judgments are not true.
The trick is to see through that you are not all those things. You are pure light and love and from that position you have conceived and shared all sorts of things about yourself. I have done this myself.
The interesting thing is when you start to see through this more and more, you also see more and more that what you think of yourself is a story you have made up yourself. That idea can give you a lot of freedom.
There are many people who are working with this on various levels, but find it difficult to do anything with it in everyday life.
So how do you apply this in your daily life? What do you gain from this as a construction worker? How are these spiritual?
Of course! We are all spiritual.
I find it interesting to also talk to people who do "ordinary" things. I will be conducting interviews with those as well.
I would like to bring spirituality to as many people as possible. It is not necessary that you do yoga, sit on a meditation cushion or burn a candle. It's all allowed, but nothing is required.
You can experience that spirituality anywhere, and for me, that's where the art is.
After all, at work, try seeing everyone as one and as love and light.
If you can do that there, you can feel that connection anywhere.

What is spirituality good for?
Okay, so spirituality can be different for everyone, but everyone has an image of it.
But spirituality has already had a lot of impact on our lives.
Spirituality, for example, was important to the Enlightenment period in our history.
Combining spirituality with mindfulness and mindful conversations can also be very beneficial for your relationship[3].
Research also shows that spirituality can help with serious illness. You then experience less pain and suffer from symptoms. In the process, you also feel a better quality of life than people who are less spiritually inclined[4].
For younger people who are on their own for the first time, such as students, spirituality can provide a sense of " belonging" (of course all the more so if you see everything as a whole), have a vision of how to live your life, give you a purpose for your life, become part of forming your identity and can give you structure[5].
Developing Spirituality
Now that you know what spirituality can be good for, you may want to develop it. Fortunately, you can get help with that.
The podcast series “Spirituality in Jeans” aims to help you develop your spirituality. What’s interesting is that spirituality plays a role in the development of societies—and society is you (among other things).
On some level, spirituality is a kind of confrontation in social and cultural spheres[6]. For example, it determines how you react when someone in your social circle does something, such as Jesus wanting to turn the other cheek instead of taking revenge when someone does something to him.
In my view of spirituality, that we are all one, this actually makes perfect sense. Because when you beat another, you beat yourself.
For example, what you often see is that if you do strike back it leads to a vicious cycle of violence. This is how spirituality can help deal with adversity and keep the sweet peace.
So how do you develop your own spirituality?
The nice thing is that you can be spiritual in itself anywhere. In some religions, such as Orthodox Christianity and Catholicism, icons have a golden glow behind their heads. That golden glow actually represents the sky where "God" is. So basically, you could always be in touch with the spiritual side of life.
In this way, you can also always draw mental strength from the spiritual side of life when things become more difficult in your life.
At Hypnosis Institute Netherlands, for example, we assume that you have everything within you to make the most of your life, but you just need to discover what that is.
Being in touch with that spiritual side in daily life, for example, can help you feel more confident that everything will work out.
For example, self-hypnosis can help you do this. For example, you can repeat certain suggestions during self-hypnosis. The best part is that you can apply self-hypnosis anywhere. Just five minutes at work or five minutes in a stationary car. It's no problem.
You can then repeat suggestions such as:
"I have everything in me to make my life better," says the company's director, "I have everything in me to make my life better."
"My environment (that golden glow 😉 ) provides me with everything I need."
"I can be spiritual anywhere."
These are just examples. Depending on your needs with spirituality, a hypnosis expert can give you other suggestions that you can repeat during self-hypnosis.
Like spirituality when you've lost faith
What you often see with people who were raised religious is that due to circumstances in life, they have lost their faith in God. Because of this, you may also find it difficult to have any form of spirituality at all, even if it is spirituality on a yoga mat, because you think it all makes no sense anyway.
Even if you do want to be more spiritual than you are now, this can cause you to block.
Fortunately, that block can be removed. One way to do this is by examining the moment when you lost your faith in a higher power or in the universe and reinterpreting that moment.
This can be done, for example, through regression.
In addition, spirituality does not have to be faith in a higher power either. If you look at Buddhism, for example, much of it is precisely that you should "not want anything" as a human being. Of course in order to reach nirvana, but at least then you are already much more concerned with yourself than praying to a higher power.
You can create your own form of spirituality, and a hypnotherapist can help you with that, too. To get your thoughts about what would work for you spiritually clear and create something you can work with in your daily life as well.
