Seeing Something Much: Meaning

Sometimes you see something a lot. Generally this has to do with things going on in your life at that time. When you see a certain thing a lot or often and seek a meaning for it, you may be "suffering" from the Baader-Meinhof phenomenon or frequency illusion.

Twins in yellow Fiat Pandas ...

Years ago when my wife was pregnant with our twins, I saw twins everywhere. It practically killed me.

And here I was thinking it was something special. Well, no. Everywhere I saw them. Cars with twins, identical twins, twin twins. Every day I saw some of them.

Until they were born and I didn't see them.

So the moment I knew I was going to have twins, it was something that was very present in my mind and, as a result, twins caught my eye faster. Maybe my subconscious was trying to see how you actually deal with twins and how others deal with twins.

When they were around I had to do it, so then it was something I no longer had to "search" for.

A while ago I was talking to an entrepreneur about this and he told me that on vacation in Italy they had a gimmick that they were being chased by yellow Fiat pandas.

'And guess what Ed? We saw them everywhere. But even in the Netherlands I saw them for a while. Yellow Fiat pandas everywhere. But now? I never see them anymore...'

Maybe she wanted a yellow car then? And that that car just caught her eye, because nice and who knows, maybe it was also linked to Italy and the sun and of course it shines yellow.

The Baader-Meinhof phenomenon. Do you know it? Named after the terrorist action group from Germany in the 1980s. There was a discussion about this phenomenon on an online forum in 1994, and then someone mentioned that name and that he suddenly came across it everywhere.

Arnold Zwicky renamed this the frequency illusion in 2006. You know the drill. You want to buy new shoes and suddenly you see exactly those new shoes everywhere. Or with cars, or with whatever.

We talked about that in combination with Facebook's algorithm. That you only see what you want to see. That you are only pursued by ads you "want" to see or have shown interest in.

Actually, then, your brain works like Facebook's algorithm. You are engaged in a particular topic and then your brain filters the stimuli in your life in such a way that only the signals related to that topic get through to your consciousness.

The entrepreneur I spoke with said, "Your life gets so constrained don't you think? You don't see what's outside that algorithm'

I say 'It's like life isn't it? You see a completely different reality than I do. What I care about and believe I see. Like I saw twins everywhere and you saw yellow Fiat pandas'

Meaning of frequency illusion

So when you're looking for the meaning of something you see often that's really starting to catch your eye, the best thing you can do is look at what you're currently working on or dealing with.

Do you see small children or pregnant women everywhere? Maybe your subconscious thinks it's time for a baby.

Do you see couples everywhere? Maybe you're feeling a little lonely and ready for a new love.

Do you see spiders everywhere? Maybe you suffer terribly from a fear of spiders when you're outside.

When you don't really know why you see what you see, hypnosis can help you gain more clarity about the frequency illusion.

As mentioned in the examples, the illusion can be the result of something you are going to encounter in the future, as with my twins, something you love, or just something you are terribly afraid of.

Why is your focus where it is?

As in the examples, my focus on twins was there because this was something I needed to take care of in the future. The entrepreneur was "haunted" by yellow Fiat pandas. That indicates danger.

In both cases, it was about survival. The survival of my children and the survival of the vacation (because who knows what kind of creepy individuals are driving one of those yellow Fiat panda).

When you are correctly focused on opportunity, even that has to do with your survival or at least the ease with which you survive.

For example, it is known that there is such a thing as Golddiggers, if you as a man want to have a lot of choice of women to be in a relationship with, it is helpful to be successful. You may not even be concerned with that success for your future partner at the time, but it can certainly play a role in your subconscious.

For example, I have 4 children and have experienced issues with my children that make me want to be as successful as possible with the hypnosis institute so that people don't have to go through the same thing I went through and of course to make my children's future as safe as possible.

So where is your focus? Is focus something you want to focus on or is it a weird necessary focus?

You often see this weird necessary focus with anxiety. For example, this is the reason why people with some fears stay inside, because outside they are confronted with their fear all the time because their focus is on it.

Of course, it's much more fun when you go out and actually see opportunities to at least enjoy life.

So what you believe and what you are working on is often what you see and where your focus is. So if you want to see what's out there then you have to shift your focus or what you care about and start believing something else. Then you will naturally start to see something different in this algorithmic reality.

See first then believe? No, believe first then see. After all, you do now 😉

Hypnosis to see your opportunities

So do you often see something now that scares you a bit, or that might mean something? A hypnotist can help you figure out why your focus is on that. For example, when you are in hypnosis, you can have a Socratic conversation in which the why question (or variations of that question) is repeated.

That way, you get to the core of why you are focusing on something. For example, a fear or worry may be why you see certain things often.

Next, a hypnotist can help you determine what beliefs that fear or concern is based on. Perhaps that belief is wrong, and changing that belief can cause you to be disconnected from what you are now (unwisely) focusing a lot on, making room again for other things in your life.

Shifting focus to opportunities

Then, when you are no longer focused on things you don't want to focus on at all, you can also determine (and you can even do so before you solve the first problem) what you do want to focus on.

Perhaps you want to focus on a better family life, opportunities for a new love, opportunities at work or for your business.

In that case, hypnosis can also help you shift your focus to those opportunities, so that, for example, you see all the fun getaways you can take with your family, all the nice single people (instead of couples) you can form relationships with, opportunities to show your supervisor the value you add, or even opportunities to make your business more visible.

With this, a hypnosis expert can help you. There are several hypnosis techniques that do this. For example, one such technique is repeating hypnotic suggestions. Because you are in hypnosis, you absorb those suggestions better and also see them as the truth more quickly. It more quickly becomes something you believe and therefore it becomes something that helps you see the opportunities in your life more often.

These may include suggestions such as:

"I am a good mother and I see what is good to strengthen my family's bond," says Dr. K. K., who is a good mother.

"I'm a nice single and there are plenty of singles to be in a relationship with."

"I am good at my job and I can show that added value to my colleagues and supervisors."

"I am a good entrepreneur and I see opportunities for more sales."

These are just examples. Depending on your goals, a hypnotherapist may give you other suggestions or use a totally different technique to shift your focus.
