Improving your cholesterol naturally can be done with the help of hypnosis. Good cholesterol is important for healthy blood vessels and to prevent cardiovascular disease. If your cholesterol is too high, or the ratio of your LDL and HDL cholesterol is not right you can already do a lot naturally to improve your cholesterol.
It's good to know though that you want to lower the LDL cholesterol, the HDL cholesterol you want to have more of in proportion, because this very cholesterol helps keep your blood vessels clean of the LDL cholesterol.
Diet Change
Changing your diet is often the most obvious option if you want to lower your cholesterol.
You can start by checking that you are eating enough fiber. Fiber is found in whole grain products, vegetables and fruits. In fact, a diet with enough fiber protects you from high cholesterol because fiber absorbs fat in the intestines after which it leaves your body through your bowel movements.
That way, less fat enters your bloodstream and therefore you get less cholesterol[1].
It also helps to give plant-based proteins, such as by eating soy and nuts.
Also, you want to eat less saturated fats, as they mainly contribute to the development of LDL cholesterol[2]. This is mainly found in sauces, and fried foods. Above all, read food labels to see how much saturated fat is in them.
It is best to eat lean meats, think chicken and lean beef, to eat less saturated fats.
And, of course, just more vegetables.
Eating the DASH diet also helps reduce your LDL cholesterol. This includes eating 4 to 5 servings of vegetables a day[3]. You can then eat something with vegetables at lunch, for example, so that you eat vegetables with lunch and dinner.
Even more important than eating less fat, is eating fewer carbohydrates. This is because carbohydrates lower your HDL cholesterol, and that's exactly what you don't want (source 2). Carbohydrates are found in potatoes, bread, pasta and other pasta products.
Hypnosis to change your diet
For people who find it difficult to change their diet, hypnosis can play a big role. It can help with your motivation and it can even change your perception of taste, making you enjoy eating vegetables more, for example.
In fact, research shows that Ericksonian hypnosis (the thing you learn at Hypnosis Institute Netherlands) helps you gain more control over what you eat if you are currently an impulsive eater.
This study monitored the combination of hypnosis (8 sessions) and self-hypnosis . This showed that it helped to take impulsivity out of the eater, be less likely to suffer from hunger and lose weight[4].
Other research also shows that 3 sessions of hypnotherapy are enough to eat more mindfully and have more motivation to change your lifestyle[5].
In the process, they could also remove limiting beliefs, such as that healthy eating is expensive.
For diet change, self-control, motivation and taste are especially important. For example, a hypnotherapist can help you like vegetables more by, for example, making you notice how nice and juicy some vegetables are and how your body is going to enjoy all the healthy substances in them.
As for self-control, a hypnotherapist can pay attention to certain habits. For example, I once helped a woman who grabbed a cookie every time she walked into the kitchen. We replaced that behavior during hypnotherapy with sweeping the kitchen floor every time.
This allowed her to stay away from cookies and her kitchen floor has never been cleaner. Ideal.
For motivation, work can be done in 2 ways. Attention can be paid to the pain you want to prevent, such as having a heart attack or stroke due to too much cholesterol.
In addition, attention can be paid to exactly what you want to achieve, such as growing old in good health, so that even when you are 90 you can still enjoy walking and playing with your grandchildren (and who knows, maybe even great-grandchildren).
More/other exercise
One such lifestyle change is to exercise more.
It also works to lower your cholesterol. It is then good to alternate aerobics with strength training (source 3). Try to do either 300 minutes of light exercise or 150 minutes of fanatical exercise weekly and combine this with 2x a week of strength training for the largest muscle groups.
Hypnosis for exercise
With hypnosis, and even an active form of hypnosis, you can "install" a vision of the future in yourself which helps increase your sports motivation. It can even be applied during rehabilitation.
In any case, someone with knowledge of hypnosis can make you do movements while suggesting that you make that movement with weights, for example, in the future and that you will be strong enough to do so[6].
Creating such an image not only helps you get clear on an end goal, but also to come up with plans so that you actually achieve this end goal.
A hypnotherapist can help someone by having them visualize a healthy future, for example. How you are slim, vital and happy because you have so much energy because of your good health.
You can even visualize how the movement of your body causes fat to move out of your blood vessels, resulting in less and less cholesterol in your veins.
This helps you to actually walk 30 minutes every day or exercise fanatically 3x a week at the gym.
Perhaps you still have limiting beliefs about sweat or pain that prevent you from moving comfortably. In that case, a hypnotherapist can also help you get to the root cause of those beliefs. One way to do this is with regression.
With this technique, you go back to the first moment when you decided "exercise is bad." Then you can explore what happened then and how logical it is then that this belief came about.
Then, once the limiting belief is removed, a new helping belief can take its place, such as: Exercise is fun!
Improve Sleep (with hypnosis)
Sleeping too little lowers good cholesterol (HDL cholesterol)[7], which is not helpful if you want to lower your LDL cholesterol. Therefore, always try to get enough sleep, namely 8 hours per night.
When someone has trouble sleeping, a hypnotherapist can help. People who experience sleep problems are often much more alert than those without sleep problems. A hypnotherapist can help figure out where that alertness comes from and then help the person switch that source to something that does allow them to relax properly at night.
In addition, hypnosis itself can do much to promote sleep[8]. In particular, falling asleep faster is improved with hypnotherapy[9].
For example, consider promoting relaxation with a guided visualization and even thinking ahead about what fun things you will dream about. How to proceed naturally from guided visualization into a dream.
A hypnotherapist can also provide an audio recording that promotes sleep. All you then have to do is turn that on when you lie down in bed. The moment just before you fall asleep is often also a moment when you are naturally in the hypnotic state. The audio recording can then help you get into that state, so falling asleep can also be faster.
Combining hypnosis with acupuncture
What is interesting is that hypnosis combined with acupuncture can also already have an effect on improving cholesterol. Then nothing else has been consciously changed to lower cholesterol[10].
It may well be that people have unknowingly started to live healthier lives as a result of the treatment and therefore have lower cholesterol. But then it started with hypnotherapy and acupuncture.
