Entrepreneurship and hypnosis: The combination to make a success of yourself
In January 2019, there were just over 1.2 million self-employed people without staff[1]. Then you also have entrepreneurs with staff. As an entrepreneur, you often rely on yourself and the people you ask for help. Being mentally strong is important, because you have to do an awful lot to turn your work into something profitable that you can live on. This brings with it quite a bit of stress, and keeping that stress healthy can be a real challenge when you are entrepreneurial
Fortunately, there are ways to deal with that tension, and hypnosis and self-hypnosis can offer a helping hand in this regard.
There are some things you may run into as an entrepreneur. In this blog, I will elaborate on those and how hypnosis can then help you deal with them in a positive way.
What is a good rate?
If you want to make money, it’s a good idea to charge for your product or service. This comes down to your rate. The rate you set for your service or product depends on the value you yourself assign to it.
But what is the good value?
When you make this decision, it often says something about the self-worth you attribute to yourself. Especially when you offer a service that requires you to invest time to help the client, or when you have a product that requires a significant time investment, the price you set is closely tied to your self-worth.
For example, have you taken a course related to your service or product? If so, there’s a good chance you have more confidence in what you do and find your service or product more valuable than if you hadn’t taken any training—and it’s more of a hobby that’s gotten out of hand.
So your rate depends somewhat on your self-worth and self-confidence. Hypnosis can help you boost your self-worth and self-confidence, which in turn makes you feel more comfortable charging a higher price so that you can truly make a full-time living from your business and avoid suffering from imposter syndrome.
This can be done, for example, with affirmations that you repeat while under self-hypnosis. You can also first see a hypnotist for this purpose to determine affirmations that fit your problems regarding daring to ask for a decent rate.
They can include affirmations such as:
"I regularly immerse myself in the knowledge and skills, so I'm worth it," he said.
"People are satisfied with what I do for them."
"I'm good enough to charge more than minimum wage."
These are just examples. Depending on your issues, thoughts, and beliefs, a hypnotherapist may choose to give you different affirmations.
Is my product/service good enough?
You can do something, you can create something, but is it good enough to sell to people? You can become very unsure about what you’ve come up with and whether it’s actually good enough.
Whether something you come up with is good enough for the world also depends on your beliefs about the world and how you think you should function in it.
When you are unsure about whether your service is good enough, it can come from fears about what people may be dissatisfied with. Your fears are usually based on beliefs.
If you are very uncertain about what you want to do, a hypnotist can help you figure out where that uncertainty comes from. This can be done in 2 ways.
The first way is with a Socratic conversation. During such a conversation, you are put into hypnosis and the why question is repeated several times, or a variation of that question. This gets you to the core of your insecurity and you can either find out that that insecurity makes no sense at all or you can find out how to solve that insecurity by improving your product or service and what improvement that is.
The second method involves regression. The beliefs that are holding you back from developing and marketing your products or services come from somewhere. Through regression, while under hypnosis, you go back to the moment these beliefs originated.
This is often a time in your elementary school years because it is during that period of your life that you form your beliefs about life. Only problem is, you form those beliefs with the knowledge you have as a child and usually you don't evaluate those beliefs.
So during regression, you go back to that moment and take a look at it with your adult knowledge. This can change your uncertainty about your product or service in 1 instant. Like Socratic conversation, you can become more convinced about what you are doing or know what you need to change to make it a success.
How do I find clients?
As an entrepreneur, you also need to find customers, and to do that, you need to promote your business. You can do this safely online from behind your computer or through face-to-face networking. If you find online or in-person networking nerve-wracking, it may be due to underlying social anxiety.
There are all kinds of social anxieties that people may have this can be about:
- Character traits you are dissatisfied with.
- Appearances you are dissatisfied with.
- Behaviors you are dissatisfied with.
- Qualities you are dissatisfied with.
When it comes to character traits you are dissatisfied with, for example, it may be that you think it doesn't come across well if you are always late, which may have become your habit or that you always speak the truth (because you can't lie) even if it is not a nice truth for your (potential client).
When it comes to appearance, you may think that your appearance does not fit an entrepreneur or the field you are in.
When it comes to behaviors, you may worry that you are telling the wrong jokes or don't actually have anything interesting to say about your field.
When it comes to qualities, you may still find it exciting to say you are good at something because, for example, you are not yet "the best." Although you are probably good enough.
With the previous techniques to overcome insecurities, such as Socratic conversation and regression, you can address these types of social anxieties.
Additionally, you can also use visualizations to become more confident in, for example, using social media or your face-to-face networking skills. During such a visualization, you visualize what it looks and feels like when everything is going well. This is something a hypnotist can help you with and what you can do with self-hypnosis. Everything you think and say to yourself is positive. For example:
"You go to a networking meeting. You look good and have a nice outfit on. You have your business cards in hand and feel good about what you're doing. You listen to the other entrepreneurs and tell them more about your business and why you do what you do. You exchange cards and feel good there are even entrepreneurs with whom you schedule a coffee appointment right away."
This is just an example, what you see is that only positive language is used. So it does not say "you are not silent," it says "you are engaging the conversation" by keeping it positive your focus remains positive. This is because when there is a denial of what is not happening the focus still goes slightly to the negative and you want to avoid that.
Depending on your fears about getting clients, a hypnotist may help you in a different way with a guided visualization that better suits them. These are often also given to you on mp3 to listen to at home for self-hypnosis. All this will help you increase your chances of success.
Hypnosis against the stress of business
Running a business can also be incredibly stressful once you have your clients. You have deadlines, you have to keep track of your accounting, and things don’t always go smoothly. In that case, hypnosis can help you relax so that stress doesn’t build up.
For example, there are relaxation techniques to escape the delusion of the day for a while, such as with a visualization of a serene place that helps you release tension from your body.
So there are all kinds of ways how hypnosis can help you if you are an entrepreneur. It can help you on a daily basis to suffer less from stress, it helps you overcome limiting beliefs so you dare to ask for your worth and sell your best products or services.
