Abundance: How do you ensure you see abundance in your life?
The world is vast, and there is an abundance of everything, but how do you ensure that you experience that abundance in your own life? If you feel like you’re living a meager life, the idea of living in abundance might sound completely unbelievable to you—after all, you’re already working so hard, so what else can you possibly do?
In this blog, I delve deeper into how you too can gain abundance in your life. This may be different than you initially expect, though.
After all, abundance is also a bit about experiencing a good life[1] and you can have abundance of anything. An abundance of food, an abundance of leisure time, an abundance of friends or even an abundance of money .
So the first question is what do you want to see abundance in? In everything? For example, researchers indicate that materialistic abundance often comes at the expense of the abundance provided by nature (source 1).
There is also an abundance of food in the stores. At first you would say "nothing wrong," but research shows that if that food is unaffordable, it can still make you feel like there is no food in abundance[2]. Well look not buy so to speak. It is like wanting to shop on PC Main Street with your middle income. You see all the nice (yummy) things, but you can't afford it. How abundant does that make you feel?
In addition, these days you have an abundance of ways to communicate with one another. When I was growing up, we had television and a landline. It was nice and quiet, but now you have social media, text messaging, and with your cell phone, you’re reachable everywhere. Instead of immediately answering the phone when someone calls, you set your phone to “Do Not Disturb” because otherwise it drives you completely crazy. More and more people are also struggling with internet addiction or feeling pressure to be active online and show that they have a “cool” life[3].
Abundance can be fun, but as you can see, it can backfire. Be careful what you wish for.
Do you think in abundance or in scarcity
What is also kind of interesting is the story in the Bible of exodus. Indeed, in the beginning people thought there was plenty of everything, but the Jews learned in Egypt that there is such a thing as scarcity, and only then did they come up with the idea of collecting bread and the like, saving it for later[4].
So when you believe there is abundance in everything, you worry much less about tomorrow. Then you don't feel like you have to have an abundantly full savings account, to give just one example.
So do you want to see or especially own abundance around you because you think there is actually no abundance?
In another biblical story, a battle is lost by the Jews and when Joshua investigates why things went wrong he finds out that someone had withheld wealth from society and that is why things went wrong.
This hooks back into keeping the balance of abundance for yourself and others. Or the balance between stuff making and nature.
Living from abundance
So living from abundance can be done in 2 ways. You can live with the idea that you must possess abundance or you can live with the idea that there is so much abundance that if you need something once, you will get it.
So in what way do you want to live from abundance?
Winning and abundance
Another question to answer is why do you want abundance? After all, in our capitalist society, you are often told that whoever owns the most wins (source 4, page 4). But what do you actually win?
This is why some people work 60 hours a week. This is why some people get stuck in a job they don't actually like, but it pays very well. Is owning abundance worth it?
Money in abundance
Money also abounds. There are plenty of millionaires who make it clear that there is more than enough money, but in the end, money is just a means to get or buy what you really want.
The interesting thing is that your mindset says a lot about whether or not you can escape poverty. Ambition, self-discipline, and a positive mindset are important for seizing opportunities to earn more money.
After all, if you expect something is not going to work for you anyway, don't even try this.
In the U.S., if you come from a poor family your chance of becoming wealthier is often 57%. 43% of children from poor families remain poor in later life, but 57% do not, and this is often due to their qualities, mindset and discipline.
Do you come from a (financially) wealthy family? If so, it is not automatically the case that you will remain wealthy later in life. The chance in the U.S. is 1/3rd that you will still experience poverty[5].
Attracting Abundance
In whatever way you want abundance in your life, it is important to have a positive mindset about this to actually attract it.
For example, you can look at your beliefs about scarcity and abundance. For example, if you ask the why question a few times you will get to your deepest beliefs about why you want to attract abundance.
Are you afraid of poverty? Do you think it will make life more fun? Are you afraid that otherwise there will be nothing left for you?
It could be anything, but if you know what that belief is, you can also control whether that belief helps you attract abundance or if it inadvertently still gives you a negative mindset.
For example, you might want to attract abundance because you feel that otherwise you ’d have to work very hard for your money.
Of course, that feeling is not pleasant and can cause you to overlook certain opportunities for abundance, as there is often work to be done anyway (trust me).
Hypnosis for changing your mindset
A hypnotherapist can help you identify these kinds of beliefs and then work through them so that you are no longer held back, allowing you to live with greater peace of mind, see more opportunities, and thereby attract abundance.
In addition, your mindset also ensures that if then you do not attract abundance, you suffer less from it. You feel richer whether you are or not[6]. For example, having a growth mindset, the mindset that makes you believe that you can develop yourself and that everything is inventible, helps you feel good regardless of your socioeconomic status.
A hypnotherapist can use certain techniques to coach you in developing the right mindset for attracting abundance, such as self-hypnosis, regression, progression, giving specific suggestions, using metaphors, and so on[7].
For example, regression helps you identify what event is blocking you from having a sense of abundance or why you feel this feeling is so important. If something is blocking you and you can figure out how that happened, you can also reinterpret that event with the help of the hypnotist so that you remove that block.
Sometimes you have a clear picture of what your abundant life looks like, but you just don't really know how to achieve it. In that case, progression can help you have a clear picture of what you can do to achieve abundant living. Then you look more at your desired future and what steps you can take to make it a reality.
Suggestions can help you look at the world just a little differently and thereby see opportunities or feel better about the abundance that is actually definitely there. For example, a post-hypnotic suggestion can help you see how abundant your life and environment actually already are. Also, it can make sure that when you find that you need something, you can take the steps necessary to get it.
A metaphor can also help you gain new insights about what you already have and what you can achieve. Metaphor can also be used to eliminate certain fears, and that can certainly be helpful if they prevent you from living in abundance.
Self-hypnosis is also useful because people can use that to retain and reinforce the long-term effects of hypnotherapy.
