Out of your comfort zone with hypnosis and other tips

Is everything running its course and you feel very comfortable? Then chances are you're generally working nicely in your comfort zone. Yet you may also feel that your comfort zone is actually too small. You may feel a need for more, but the stress of getting out of your comfort zone may be too great to actually step outside of it. In this blog I discuss your comfort zone and how to get out of your comfort zone with hypnosis and other tips.

What is your comfort zone?

Your comfort zone is a mental zone in which you move comfortably and without tension. The zone can also be more physical; for example, most people feel more comfortable closer to home than in a strange city.

Mentally, your comfort zone is, for example, that you feel most comfortable doing work you have been doing for years and would rather not be given new tasks because you feel you have not mastered that knowledge sufficiently. This then feels like a risk that gives you a stomach ache and what you would rather not do.

Even hobbies can sometimes require you to get out of your comfort zone.

Another example of your comfort zone is the people you hang out with. By mostly always hanging out with the same people, you know what to expect, and because you already know each other inside out, you don't have to do anything else for it. Stepping out of your comfort zone is then, for example, dating if you are single, or looking for friends with whom you can do something that your current friends cannot help you with.

So your work, activities and friends can be part of your comfort zone. Doing something new there that you don't know if you will succeed in will take you out of your comfort zone. This is because it evokes feelings of fear and any other emotions and you can then overcome them. Your beliefs about the risks associated with an activity determine what is your comfort zone for you, the zone of personal growth, and what is the "panic" zone[1].

Why do you want to get out of your comfort zone

By overcoming fear and other strong emotions, you will experience personal growth. However, it is important not to go too far out of your comfort zone at 1 time, because then the activity can also trigger panic. So it is important to move out of the comfort zone into the growth zone for personal growth.

By stepping out of your comfort zone, you will discover that you can do more than you thought and that taking risks is not at all scary. Even when things don't go well, because you also find out that your life just goes on when something fails for once.

Getting out of your comfort zone, in short, brings more courage, more confidence, less fear of failure, new relationships, more skills and more positive emotions into your life.

Get out of your comfort zone with hypnosis

Hypnosis can be a very good tool for getting out of your comfort zone. Initially, the hypnotic state is already a form of getting out of your comfort zone because it is not something you do every day.

In the process, there are also many opinions about hypnosis that are incorrect. For example, many people think you lose control when you are under hypnosis, but that is not the case. However, hypnosis is a different state than you are normally in. This can also be seen on MRIs. These show that your brain activity is different when you are under hypnosis than when you are "normal."

By going under hypnosis once, you are already doing something, this is also because hypnosis is a unique experience for each person.

If you are then in hypnosis, there are several techniques that help you step out of your comfort zone.

Pulverizing blocking beliefs

Once you are then in hypnosis, you are also more susceptible to changing your beliefs and the therapeutic techniques being applied to you. A belief that blocks you from doing something right, but outside your comfort zone, can be pulverized by such a technique.

A good technique for removing blocking beliefs is by applying regression. With regression, you go back to the very first moment when you got a feeling that for a certain activity, it was better to stay in your comfort zone and especially not do it. This may have become a pattern in your life and you discover that pattern with regression. By going back to the first moment when this happened you can process this moment with your present knowledge you can pulverize that blocking belief so that you will no longer suffer from it in the future.

By breaking the pattern in your subconscious, you also break the behavior that goes with the pattern. This can even make your comfort zone a lot bigger in 1 go.

Empowering beliefs

Beliefs that do cause you to go out of your comfort zone and take a little more risk can be reinforced. Repeating suggestions in hypnosis makes you absorb them better into your subconscious. For example, you may be instructed by the hypnotist to repeat certain beliefs, such as:

"It's safe to fail."

"It's fun to get out of your comfort zone."

"Doing something is a little different than trying something."

"2 percent different is already different."

"I get to rely on myself."

"Doing something exciting gives you more guts," says Dr. K. K., who is a member of the community.

"I can do anything."

These are just examples of hypnotic suggestions. Depending on your blocks and beliefs, you may receive other suggestions from your hypnotist.

Visualize getting out of your comfort zone

In addition to repeating hypnotic suggestions and removing blocking beliefs through regression, you can also visualize your desired behavior outside the comfort zone. During such visualization, you can make use of the senses you are comfortable with in order to associate positive feelings with taking steps outside your comfort zone.

For example, you can visualize how you will implement the following practical tips.

Other tips for getting out of the comfort zone

Hypnosis helps you remove beliefs that block you from taking a step outside your comfort zone, but what steps can you start with to make your comfort zone bigger? What steps can you take to make greater personal growth?

Tip #1: Do what you always do in a different way

You may start small by doing what you always do in a different way to see what effect it has. For example, you can do your work in a different order. Start the day with what you normally end with. Save your mail until your lunch break instead of starting your day with the mail. Take a half-hour walk in the morning before work instead of in the evening after work.

Tip 2: Do something you've never done before but would like to do

It doesn't matter if this is a business activity or something you want to do in your personal life. Pick something that has always seemed fun for you to do but for which you always had an excuse not to do and do it!

Take that road trip. Join that workshop. Start your own vlog (even if you only make 1). This will help you get out of your activity comfort zone.

Tip 3: Volunteer

By volunteering somewhere, you meet all kinds of people. This can help you get out of your social comfort zone and have a positive impact on people. This gives you positive associations with getting to know and help people.

Tip 4: Learn a new skill

By learning something new that you find difficult and that you fear you might not master, you experience personal growth and can showcase your talent to more people. In doing so, you increase your personal value because you can help other people with that new skill.

This is something that will help you step out of your comfort zone at work.

These are just a few tips for getting out of your comfort zone. The most important thing is to remove beliefs that block you. You can do this by implementing the tips, and if that is still a little too much to ask, you can do it with the help of hypnosis.

Want to know exactly how hypnosis works and feels? Then come to the hypnosis playshop, where you will learn to hypnotize people and be put under hypnosis yourself (if you want to) or enroll directly in a training course of the Hypnosis Institute Netherlands so you can learn the techniques you can use to help yourself and other people. Ask about online options if that suits you better.
