Quitting smoking even helps with anxiety
That smoking is not good for your health everyone already knows that. There are all kinds of disadvantages to continuing to smoke. Some people don't care that much and don't worry that much. You hear often enough that people don't want to quit smoking because it just "tastes good." Or because it has become a habit and don't really know any better. There are also people who don't even like it anymore but keep going anyway for whatever reason. But there is also something else going on...
Quit Smoking does even more to you
Some of the reasons why people don't quit or are afraid to quit smoking is that they will gain weight. Our brain is enormously powerful. The fact that people gain weight is not because they quit smoking. Those people do that themselves. That is quite difficult to understand and admittedly difficult to accept, yet it is true.
It is the unconscious automatic programyou have then fallen victim to. You have seen, heard and experienced that people gain weight when they quit smoking. That has become an unconscious program which becomes active when you stop smoking.
There's nothing you can do about it, as it's automatic, just like breathing, staying upright or riding a bike (if you can ride a bike).
Yes But, Smoking Helps Against Stress
That smoking helps against stress is also something people have convinced themselves of. And that, too, is also long outdated. Several University researchers published this in the British Journal of Psychiatry. 500 smokers participated in a project. Of the portion of 500 smokers who successfully quit smoking and still don't smoke, they were found to have less anxiety and stress.
Among those who did start smoking again, anxiety and stress actually became much more prevalent. Especially smokers struggling with anxiety disorders and depressive feelings, smoking was found to amplify this. The anxiety returned in all its intensity when they started again. Smokers who have mood disorders and start smoking again also suffered more anxiety.
Quit Smoking will benefit you greatly!
Many smokers view a life without cigarettes dismally. Yet this is not the case. In fact, successful quitters are more satisfied with their lives and feel healthier. Both one year after quitting smoking, and three years after quitting. That's according to research at the University of Wisconsin among 1,504 quitters. The researchers looked at psychological well-being after quitting smoking.
Quitting smoking has all kinds of benefits in terms of physical health. That quality of life also improves most smokers don't know. Or are not even aware of it. Research all shows positive changes. For example, successful quitters score higher on their overall quality of life.
And even after 3 years of quitting, or rather no longer having any desire in smoking, their stress levels are also greatly reduced and they experience much less stress than the time when they smoked.
Hypnotherapy and Smoking Cessation
Smoking has also become an unconscious automatic program. You don't even think about it anymore, until you start having trouble breathing, lose fitness, become embarrassed or experience other negative characteristics. I'm not even talking about diseases....
Somewhere in your life you have fallen victim to that program that no longer works for you. Talking doesn't help, and even gum or patches can do a poor job of stopping that program. You can't do much about it either, because often it is stronger than you are.
With hypnosis, we connect with that program and can create a new program because we work with the unconscious. This is effortless because we work at the level of automatic programs. This is why hypnotherapy is so effective for smoking cessation.
