Making a difficult life easier
Sometimes you see things that are incredibly cool, like dishes, but they look so difficult that you think you're just not going to get started. A while ago I was at a restaurant and there I had been given a delicious dessert with watermelon and this looked quite simple. Now you also got a cookbook, so I looked up the dish and then it turned out that in that bit of food there were 21 different ingredients. That's when it stops for me already. It gets too complicated then
Of course, it's great when someone can make it so flavorful, but it's a star chef for a reason. It really does take a lot of work.
Making difficult life easy: start simple
If you want to go cook something and you look at Italian cuisine. There they put something very flavorful with a few ingredients. That's actually a lot simpler in terms of ingredients. Is it also easier? Not necessarily, but at least it's a lot less ingredients.
For example, I am now learning to play the piano with an app. In the beginning it's very easy and it gets a little more difficult each time. In no time you can suddenly play a song with 1 hand. It is a little more difficult than father Jacob, but this still gives you the feeling that you can do something and therefore you feel like continuing.
That's the power of making something as simple as possible. You then do have the effect of making it cool and easy and something that makes you say, "I can do this." To develop that one step at a time, you raise the difficulty a little bit each time, but not so far that you drop out.
It really is an art to develop something that way.
In education, you can see that they do this pretty well in elementary school, like with learning tables or something. They do this in a pretty simple way. With a song involved and at some point you know those tables. You can then build that up again to slightly more difficult calculations, like fractions. Then you can build on that again, until suddenly you're doing math D, like my son. I really wonder what he's doing. But for him, it's built in such a way that he can still understand it. He can still make it harder.
But imagine if you had started math with that? Then it would have come to nothing.
Are you making it difficult?
Something very difficult I make very easy.
With hypnosis, I can also make it very difficult and theoretical. Then many people drop out to learn it. Whereas if you watch a show hypnotist, the idea can arise that it is easy and that you can learn it easily (which, by the way, it is).
I feel the same way about NLP, neuro-linguistic programming. You get a lot of explanations—“21 steps this way, 36 steps that way” —and that’s when many people lose interest. A certain target audience does get on board, though, because it was originally intended for psychotherapists. Neuro-linguistic programming also sounds appealing to that target audience. The names of the techniques sound very interesting, too, even though you can explain what you’re doing in simple terms.
Why do they do this? Because many people drop out, and then they miss an opportunity to get rid of a fear very quickly. This is only because the name makes it seem difficult, while it is easy.
It’s often suggested that it’s very difficult to break free from it. So it’s no surprise that many people struggle with it.
This is not only true in therapy, where things can sometimes be much simpler. Especially when you look at how the brain works, what people believe and what that all does to the body and how people perceive many things they don't and do and what you can do with this.
That's insane and awesome.
Simple steps to solve a problem
There are simple recipes like this. They are always 4 steps you need to take to get rid of a problem. To take your life from difficult to easy. 4 steps.
Also, to have a successful business, you need to be able to assume 4 roles. For those roles, you need certain skills that you need to learn. These are all simple recipes.
Is it easy? Even though it is only 4 steps and can be tricky, it is doable. If I say it's 38 steps you'll hook off immediately.
Hypnotizing someone? That's 6 steps. All in bite-sized blocks, boom! And someone is in hypnosis.
Are there a lot of details in those steps? Yes there can be, just like the 4 steps to solve a problem. There are many details to get from one step to the next.
The 4 steps to solving a problem are:
- Associate with the problem.
- Dissociating the problem.
- Associate with the resource.
- Linking the resource to the problem.
This is the recipe for getting rid of problems you think of in your head.
Then the 6 steps of hypnosis.
- Followership.
- The person's agreement.
- The induction.
- Deepening.
- The answer you get.
- The test.
That's it. Then you're there. That's simple, it doesn't get any harder. You may need some practice to understand it, but you'll find you can do it pretty quickly.
It's like that with a lot of things.
Creating a simple effect, such as being able to play a song, put someone into hypnosis or make a delicious pasta, that is doable for anyone. It is quite learnable.
From there, it can be refined. From there you can learn how to do it better, how to deepen it.
You can dedicate a lifetime to that.
I think making this simple is important, because with this you feel results. Do you get the feeling that you can do something and that makes you create a kind of fire, which also makes it easier to cross other thresholds.

Wisdom is turning a difficult life into an easy life
Of course, sometimes you may find yourself in complicated situations that make your life difficult. In those cases, there are a number of ways to deal with them and still feel like they’re making your life easier. Ways that give you wisdom about life, making you feel like you ’re growing as a person. Just as you can grow in your pasta-making skills.
Research shows that when you look back on a difficult period in your life and are able to derive some kind of meaning from it—specifically, if you can answer the question of how that situation helped you grow as a person—it gives you a sense of wisdom.
The same study also shows that if you can reframe a memory—if you can look at it from a different angle—this helps you adapt to the new situation[1].
If you are walking around feeling that your life is difficult, that you are not learning anything and that you have no idea how to look at an unpleasant situation in a different way, it may be helpful to seek the help of a hypnotherapist.
In fact, hypnotherapy can help you with both sides of wisdom that make a difficult life easier. Reframing an event, for example, is something that almost always comes back to solve a problem with hypnosis.
In addition, the idea of learning something from an unpleasant situation can also excite your internal resource, making you engage in problem solving as well.
The right hobby makes your life easier
You may have once found challenge incredibly important. As a result, you have a challenging job and a challenging hobby. In this way, you make your life difficult in 2 ways.
A nice hobby where you learn something simple, like a dance or a tune on the piano, can enrich your daily life and give you energy, making everything seem a little less difficult for a while.
Are you a perfectionist? If so, a hobby can actually make your life more difficult, because you’ll want to do that hobby perfectly as well. In that case, it’s better to let go of your perfectionism. Sometimes this can even lead to better results, because you’ll feel that something is finished more quickly[2].
Hypnosis can also help you figure out why being perfect is important to you and help you let it go, especially at times in your life when it doesn't matter.
