Increase sports motivation with hypnosis
Now that spring is here, the need for many people to live a healthy life so you can look healthy this summer is becoming more and more important. Sometimes you actually need to exercise more for your health, for example, if you are overweight and therefore more likely to develop diabetes. But having to move more and moving more is still a difference. There is also a difference between wanting to move more and moving more.
Therefore, in this article I discuss the health benefits of exercise and provide tips to increase your sports motivation.
Exercise is healthy
Not exercising is unhealthy, even if you’re not overweight. When someone doesn’t exercise, their bones weaken, increasing the risk of fractures. If someone doesn’t exercise, their muscles aren’t stimulated, causing them to weaken—including the heart muscle. So not exercising isn’t just unhealthy—it can even be deadly. Just as smoking is deadly.
So to keep your bones and muscles strong it is important to exercise also to keep your muscles strong it is good to exercise 30 minutes daily. Even if this is a walk.
Exercise will make you lose weight
Especially if you’re overweight , exercise is essential for losing weight, in addition to following a healthy diet. When you exercise, you burn more calories. For every half a kilo of fat, you need to burn 3,500 calories that you don’t consume. So if you burn 500 more calories than you eat every day, you’ll lose half a kilo in one week.
This reinforces the effect that healthy eating has on having a healthy weight. Moreover, it is not healthy to follow a crash diet because you will not get enough nutrients. Exercising more and eating healthy is the best way to lose weight.
Increase sports motivation
Of course, you now want to do all sorts of things to motivate yourself to exercise more. That's why I have a few practical tips for you.
Use motivational graphics
On the Internet, you can find all kinds of places to find motivational images that encourage you to exercise more. You have whole Pinterest boards full of them. Hanging these up in a visible place will remind you every time to exercise.
"Just do it." On your closet door can cause you to put on your jogging pants instead of your pajamas and stretch before relaxation time begins. Choose images that appeal to you and hang them by your closet, in the bathroom and maybe even on all the doors in your house. This will make you much more likely to exercise when you have nothing to do for a while.
Doesn't make it too difficult
To exercise, you really only need yourself and the ground. A gym is fun, but by now not necessary. You can already do many exercises at home to move more. Again, you can find these on the Internet. YouTube is full of videos of fitness instructors and on websites like Pinterest you can also find all kinds of workouts that you can easily do at home, just in your living room!
If you want, you can also buy weights to use at home for strength training and a jump rope for cardio training in your yard or on the sidewalk in front of your house.
Go exercise with a friend
If you find it hard to motivate yourself, you can also work out with a friend. That way, you’ll have a little extra push to actually put on those sneakers and get moving. You can also encourage each other during your workout to go that extra mile.
Are your friends not so sporty? Then you can also join a team sport. This stick works too, because of course you don't want to disappoint the team.
Sign up for a sporting event
If you sign up for, say, a marathon and pay for it, you obviously don't want to spend that money for nothing. In addition, you must also prepare well for a sporting event in order to meet all the challenges. Also remember the feeling of pride when you have done everything.
You can also share this on social media, and seeing that photo of your accomplishment along with all the compliments is really fun and motivating.
Break down your goal into small goals
If you want to exercise to lose weight, break that goal down into smaller goals. For example, if you want to lose 10 kilograms, it’s better to focus on the first kilogram rather than the last one. This way, you won’t feel overwhelmed by your goals. The same applies to building muscle. First, you just want to be able to lift 20 kilograms, and then you’ll naturally reach that 100-kilogram mark. Plus, this also prevents you from getting demotivated because you’d have to work very hard to achieve your big goal quickly.
Are these practical tips not helping, but do you actually really want to exercise more? Then hypnotherapy can help remove whatever is blocking you from moving.
Hypnosis to move more
Your conscious mind is a tremendous motivation killer. An American hypnotherapist refers to the conscious mind as “the excuse maker.” You can come up with all sorts of excuses for why you can’t go work out—or even just go for a walk—today, right now, tomorrow, yesterday, next week, or even next month. You simply don’t have time for that because… and then the excuses start rolling in. Your conscious mind is all about logic, reasoning, and willpower. As long as your reasoning is logical, it can undermine and diminish your willpower to exercise more.
Your subconscious responds more to cues, which is also why sometimes you see something and then get a related thought in your head (This is why the tip of motivational graphics can help you move more).
Hypnosis affects the subconscious which puts the excuses out of play when you want to exercise more. With hypnotherapy, you can easily figure out why you are not motivated enough to actually exercise. For example, the hypnotherapist can ask you all kinds of questions such as how you feel before you exercise and why you want to exercise more.
In addition, other questions may also be important, such as how much stress you experience daily, what other goals and habits you have. The hypnotherapist can use these answers to influence your subconscious in such a way that it works best for you to actually exercise. For example, the argument that exercise helps against stress will not convince someone who does not suffer from it.
Removing guilt
Sports should not be a punishment and something you have to do. For example, if you have a hand in accusing yourself of being lazy if you were too tired one time you might get a negative association with exercise. By removing the guilt and removing the "have to" exercise, it is easier to do exercise. This is also known as the paradox. This technique does not work for everyone, but is applied or not applied by the hypnotherapist depending on the person.
Visualization of getting up early
If you specifically like to exercise in the morning before work, you can visualize an alarm clock showing the time you want to wake up to actually exercise in the morning. You can also say out loud how you feel after exercising, such as light, focused, satisfied and proud.
Guided visualization
Scientific research conducted in 2011 shows that guided visualization can actually lead you to exercise more often than people who do not receive this motivational technique. During guided visualization, a hypnotherapist helps you visualize movement. During the visualization, you’re encouraged to imagine yourself exercising and to experience all kinds of positive emotions in the process.
Increasing self-confidence
Perhaps you’ve also stopped exercising because you felt you weren’t “good enough” in group classes. Even though group classes aren’t a competition, not being as good as the rest can still create a sense of failure and make you lose enjoyment in exercise. Hypnosis can boost your confidence in exercise and help you not mind if you don’t perform that one step exercise as well as the rest of the group. Ultimately, it’s about getting moving, not about being the best.
After all these tips for motivation and help you can get, I have no doubt that it is possible to be healthy and fit on the sidewalk cafes this summer enjoying the sun and your company without worrying about your appearance or health.
