Hassle in your life: how do you deal with feeling like everything is hassle?
Hassles in your life are something that many people suffer from from time to time. Suddenly all sorts of things need to be arranged or even pronounced, but what if your life does feel like it's just hassle anyway. Or like you are hassle? That's not helpful at all. In this blog we will discuss possible causes of too much hassle and what you can do to not feel like your life is hassle, or that you are hassle.
Daily life often consists of hassles and bright spots. For example, you can enjoy the sunrise in the morning as you start your day with a cup of tea. That's a light well then, but after that can come the hassle of making breakfast for yourself or your family and everything you have to do to get the kids out the door on time and to get to work on time yourself. That's then hassle.
If everything goes a bit normally, hassles and bright spots alternate throughout the day. For example, you're happy when you don't get stuck in traffic on the way to work.
It is important to have a good balance here, because if you experience mostly hassle in your life, it can have all kinds of consequences, such as:
- The Origins of Fears
- Depression
- Stress
- Stopping yourself from doing anything (because that's hassle again)
- The idea that you don’t get support from friends or family
- The idea that your social skills aren't good enough
- A lower sense of self-worth.
On the contrary, if you have many bright spots, then you already feel a lot better, don't suffer from the fears and dare to give yourself opportunities. In addition, the bright spots often ensure that the things that need to be done or that you have to deal with are better resolved.
It is only with adolescent girls that if they have many bright spots in their day, this can strangely cause more anxiety[1].
Research on adults also shows that if people have too much hassle in their daily lives, it is not good for their health. This is separate from bright spots and also separate from larger life events that can cause stress, such as the loss of a loved one[2].
Since bright spots and hassles may or may not make your life more enjoyable, it can be helpful to consider what you focus on in life. Do you see mostly the bad things, the hassles of the day, or do you also see the fun things in life?
A hypnotherapist can help you shift your focus in life. This can be done, for example, with a posthypnotic suggestion, such as:
"From now on, you're going to enjoy the little things in life. That first sip of water after you wake up. Those first rays of sunlight after a period of rain. Those puddles of water children jump in after (or even during) a rainstorm. The road that is suddenly free of traffic jams. All the little things that are nice, that's what will make you happy from now on."
Happiness will come anyway
There are multiple ways you can respond to hassle and for how to deal with hassle. You may think that hassle will come anyway and that it is better to control your reaction. In itself that's true, but what if you find that a particular hassle keeps rearing its head in your life?
Then it is better to solve the source of the hassle than to change your reaction to the hassle. Only when you are sure you cannot change the source, only then do you need to change the reaction[3].
It is therefore helpful to consider what daily hassles you can do something about. In doing so, it is also important to double check that what you think you can't do anything about is really something you can't do anything about. This can already save a lot of mental work to change your reaction.
For example, you can brainstorm with friends or family about ways to deal with a particular hassle. Are your friends and family actually the source of the hassle? If so, you might want to discuss this with a hypnotherapist to help you look at your problems in a different way, so that they are no longer problems.
Because yes, somewhere there will be new hassles someday in your life, but it would still be super helpful if you could drastically reduce the hassles that are there now.
Sometimes, the hassle in your life is also a certain pattern that keeps recurring. For example, if the hassle in your life always revolves around the same thing. In that case, you can use hypnosis to completely transform this mental ritual. You can break down the pattern like a short video and then play it backward or out of order. The idea is that your subconscious will no longer find this pattern logical, so that in a similar situation, you won’t automatically fall back into that same pattern. Ideally, the hypnotherapist will even teach you a new pattern, so you no longer feel like trouble is bound to happen.
Fuss over nothing
Then you can fuss over something that is nothing to you, but someone else may find something important and include you in it. Or want to discuss something that you really have the last word on anyway.
In that case, you may be downplaying their problems[4] or they may indeed be really exaggerating anyway. In any case, it may be a signal of misunderstanding on your part to them [5]. If you feel that people who are not important to you are fussing over nothing, then there is not much to worry about.
But is it about your child, a friend or family member? Then your idea that the hassle is about nothing can disrupt the relationship, because this is clearly hassle about something to the other person. For example, research shows that grandparents sometimes think their children are making a lot of fuss over nothing regarding their grandchildren, only this often doesn't do the relationship with their own children any good.
You can then work with a hypnotherapist to examine your beliefs about relationships and what you do to keep a relationship healthy, to see if something needs to be done about this hassle or if it’s just creating more trouble over nothing.
A family constellation can give you a lot of clarity about who you can and can't hassle about nothing and who you would actually want to care more about. Sometimes putting someone a little further away from you in your mind can help a lot to reduce hassles.
This is a technique you can learn at the Hypnosis Institute of the Netherlands. It’s ideal for your personal development or if you want to help others reduce the hassle in their lives (for example, as a coach).
Fuss over money
Fussing about money can be about anything, such as saving for retirement, being able to pay the bills, who spends how much of the total budget, vacations, buying a house or renting a house.
Money can be a lot of hassle, this is also because people can think very differently about money. One person prefers to save everything, while the other person wants to enjoy now and let money roll in. If you think differently about this than your partner, for example, this can cause a lot of hassle over money.
Over the course of your life, you may even find yourself thinking differently about how you handle money[6], so that in turn can affect the hassle of money.
Your money mindset can have a major impact on the struggles you face with money. For example, you may have subconscious barriers to earning or saving money.
Depending on your hassles with money, affirmations or repeating hypnotic suggestions can also help you have a more convenient mindset with money. These can include suggestions such as:
"Money is good."
"I love money and money loves me."
"Money is energy."
"Money is a tool, not the solution."
These are just examples, depending on your problems, a hypnotherapist may bring other suggestions to reduce hassles about money.
