Good intentions 2013
The new year is almost upon us and then resolutions are all around the corner. People want to quit smoking, lose weight or eat healthier. Some also want to take on challenges this year and, of course, these are all good things to resolve to do. But how are you going to achieve them?
Good intentions
Good resolutions often remain only resolutions. They are not goals, but dreams, which is why more than 85% of resolutions often fail after only 3 weeks.
4 out of 5 people make resolutions as well despite the poor success rate because they may be among the 15%. I hope for you that you make it of course and that's why I have some tips.
How to make good resolutions:
- Create a roadmap for yourself
- Think of it as long-term
- Make a real decision
Roadmap
When you create a roadmap with a deadline it becomes a goal and is no longer a dream. You are now following a pathway. Also make intermediate goals so you can reward yourself sooner. Your brain really likes being rewarded and if it only hurts to achieve your good intentions then it's not going to work.
Long-term
See your good intention as long term. See yourself 20 years from now. What would you look like if you kept this resolution all that time? When you're at that weight you want? Or stopped smoking for 20 years? Or approached people kindly for 20 years? Or...
When you see it as long term then it is easier to pick up where you left off when things don't go the way you would like for a while.
Make a real decision
When you make a real decision instead of an intention then something happens. You can empower this decision by using the donkey principle. The donkey principle is using the stick and the carrot.
The stick represents pain and represents the questions, "What will happen if I continue this for another 20 years? Who or what will I lose because of this? What will I look like if I don't make my resolution?'
The carrot represents fun and reward and represents the questions, "What would I look like if I kept my resolution for 20 years? How would I feel then? How proud of myself would I be?'
Other ways
Of course, you can do it yourself, and most do. With the above 3 tips, you will succeed too. If you don't do it and really go purely by will then I wish you good luck. You are then going to try to change your subconscious mind with your consciousness. In other words, 5% is trying to push 95% in another direction.... Well.
If you want help you can. I have a few options this year for you that I can recommend.
Quit Smoking
A colleague of mine is achieving great success with his smoking cessation courses and has a super way of helping people. Check out his way here.
Losing Weight
Losing weight doesn't have to be done alone, either. If you want to do it yourself then you need to be well aware that 90% is between your ears and that a plan can help you. The mental diet plan is a plan that can support you and I can also recommend it. look here for that.
Challenges
Many people also want to take on challenges, and one challenge I'm taking on myself this year I can recommend. 40 days without sugar. The other day I read a book by a doctor who described sugar as a poison as bad as alcohol and drugs. He also said that sugar could not pass dietary criteria now with what we now know about it. Unfortunately, it is already in almost everything. Check out the challenge here.
Self-hypnosis
If you want to learn something that will benefit you for the rest of your life, then the self-hypnosis course on January 19 is for you. In 1 day you will learn to hypnotize yourself and in hypnosis you can give yourself good suggestions so that you get the life you want.
Check out the course here, there are a few spots left.
Best of luck in 2013 and make it a super year!!!
