Why so fokking serious!!!

Quite a few years ago I came to a psychotherapist to treat my addiction. My goodness how serious that man was.

Of course, it was an illness and I also had depression that I had to take medication for. And all this was told with a face that hadn't been laughed at for years in my opinion.

And then when I tried to make it a little more light-hearted it was all a strategy to laugh it off and not take it so seriously.

Ok...

I began to understand that he had a lot of people in his practice who were depressed. Not necessarily because they were when they came in, but when they left. My goodness.

They are taught that, too. You have to be very serious, of course. Those problems are all terrible, of course, and those people are all victims who need to be helped.

Yes yes yes yes

When you see people as weak and helpless you do. When you see them as strong and resilient you treat them differently. And that's quite a difference.

I see people as resilient, strong and full of solutions. You know that statement "In a year I'll probably be laughing about this"? Then why not start now I think.

A statement that is good to adopt is, "People take you seriously, the problems don't.

So human beings you treat lovingly and the problems they do we ridicule where we can. Is not always the best strategy, of course, but often it can be very helpful.

For example, I helped a boy get rid of his depression in one session. He said to me after about five minutes, "You know, that depression crept in and I can't get rid of it.

I said to him blearily, "Through what hole then? You only have a few or were you bent over?'

He looked at me and smiled anyway. That was the beginning of the session and so it went on for an hour and a half. As a result, we very quickly got to the underlying emotion (sadness and anger) that he was able to resolve.

To go from one emotion (laughter) to another (sadness) is pretty easy. You probably recognize that. But to get from seriousness somewhere takes much longer. That's why short-term therapy in psychology is 15 sessions... With us, short-term therapy is 3 sessions. And why can it be so fast?

We believe you are strong and not weak. That's the difference 👊.
