What to look for in a Hypnotherapy practice

There are some things that are important to look out for in a hypnotherapy practice. Anyone can call themselves anything these days, making it difficult to figure out who is really good and who is not so good at all. What to look out for

Hypnotherapy Practice

With most hypnotherapy practices, it's fairly obvious. They work with hypnosis. But what hypnosis exactly and how? That is often not clear. In fact, there are as many as 10 variations to be found on the Internet. And which hypnotherapy practice uses which system?

When you want to work on your problem, it's a good idea to first figure out how you want to be treated. In fact, hypnosis can be done in a variety of ways. Below I will explain which 10 ways you can find on the internet.

  1. Ericksonian hypnotherapy
  2. Modern hypnotherapy
  3. Classical hypnotherapy
  4. Direct hypnosis
  5. NLP
  6. Real hypnosis
  7. Deep Hypnosis
  8. Regression Therapy
  9. Reincarnation Therapy
  10. Energetic hypnosis

The 10 hypnosis ways at a glance

Ericksonian hypnotherapyFirst, you'll see in the list Ericksonian hypnotherapy and modern hypnotherapy. These two forms are often the same. Ericksonian hypnosis is considered modern hypnosis and that is how it is communicated. It also includes indirect hypnosis.

This method of hypnotherapy works very well only it often takes a long time. Erickson was known to take very many sessions to tackle a problem. He did it in a genius way, for sure.

When you read Erickson's books, he was a brilliant and very intuitive hypnotherapist. Few hypnotherapists doing modern hypnotherapy can approach Erickson's level. Often they work from a script which Erickson absolutely did not do.

Hypnotherapists who work from a script are often less successful in their therapy. Take note.

Other Way

The counterpart to Ericksonian hypnosis is direct and classical hypnosis. Here new behaviors are imposed, as it were, by the hypnotherapist. It is a very direct form of hypnosis and can work very well.

Again, it is the hypnotherapist who is responsible for success. If a script is used, the session is often not as good. If one works from a good energy and passion, the session will work much better. This applies to all forms of hypnosis.Dave Elman

The direct method of hypnosis has the advantage of shorter sessions and often quicker results. Dave Elman was known for it and often only needed 1 session.

Different forms

Then you also read about real hypnosis on the Internet, as if there were no real hypnosis. It is a term used purely for marketing purposes but is essentially another name for the direct form of hypnosis.

Then there is also the term deep hypnosis. It is a term that is also commonly used. Often deep hypnosis is only achieved in the direct way of doing hypnosis.

Then you also often read that NLP is a form of hypnosis. That's not entirely true. NLP is a way to figure out a strategy and streamline that strategy. So if someone is afraid, you can teach that person to do something else so they are no longer afraid.

That this occurs in some sort of trance-like state is normal, but it is not yet hypnosis. It is true, however, that NLP techniques work very well in hypnosis.

Regression Therapy and Reincarnation Therapy

Regression means going back and is a classic hypnotherapeutic way of looking into the past to find an event underlying a problem.

There are several ways to do a regression. I won't list them all because that would make this article very long, but it is a very interesting technique. It is personally one of my favorite techniques.

When you go back into your past you can also go back to your birth and even further back, to a past life. If you believe in that then you can go there too. Some hypnotherapists believe that a lot of problems have their origin in a past life. I don't believe that and in a regression I have never gone back further than 9 months old.

It has a lot to do with the frame you put down as a hypnotherapist. If you are convinced that everything has manifested in a past life then you will act accordingly and more often than not you will have clients 'accidentally' end up in a past life. I myself do not have that because I believe that everything happens in this life.

One is not better or worse, it 's all about the results. Both forms are very powerful and a good regression session is often only needed once.

Energetic Hypnosis or Mesmerism

You also sometimes read the term energetic hypnosis, and I was the first to launch the term a few years ago. This form of hypnosis complements the other forms. Hypnotherapists who areMesmerism trained in this are better hypnotherapists because they can use their intention and power.

Mesmerism is another line of work. It works with fascination, an ancient hypnotic technique that few have mastered. Many hypnotists even claim that the technique exists only as a myth. I know it doesn't because I can do it.

In addition, you work from a very strong intention that ensures results will be achieved. Hypnotherapists who master mesmerism are often the best hypnotherapists because they can use their intention so powerfully that a good result is inevitable.

I am looking for a very good hypnotherapist who can help me sleep through better and not wake up from every little sound. Once I wake up I find it very difficult to get back to sleep which makes me very tired the next day.

Hello, I’m looking for a good hypnotherapist (in the Overijssel/Drenthe region) who can help me overcome my problem. I’ve been suffering from severe panic attacks since I was 9 years old. On average, I have two severe panic attacks a day related to death (I’m extremely afraid of dying). It’s gotten so bad that I simply can’t function normally in society anymore. Medication and psychologists haven’t been able to help me so far. Thank you in advance.

Dear Edwin, I see that this article was written a while ago, but I do have a question. For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to quit smoking, but several attempts have failed. Which hypnotherapist near Deventer can you recommend to help me achieve my goal of quitting smoking? Kind regards, Tonia
