The secret hypnosis formula

There is a hypnosis formula that almost all hypnotists use. It is a very simple formula consisting of 3 steps. However, there are still great differences in its implementation, because why is one hypnotist much better than another while performing the same steps?

The Secret Hypnosis Formula

The hypnosis formula consists of the following steps:

  1. Grabbing attention
  2. Bypassing critical thinking
  3. Stimulating unconscious responses / Giving suggestions

This formula AOS is very well known to most hypnotherapists and hypnotists and they use this formula. All the steps are important in this, of course.

The focus

First you have to grab attention, because without attention no hypnosis of course. So that's the first step you need to take. How you do that, of course, can be done in many ways.

You can talk a little louder or tell a story. Of course, there are lots of ways to grab attention. It is very important that you are comfortable with this because after that comes step 2.

Bypassing Critical Thinking.

According to Dave Elman, this was the most important thing in the process of doing hypnosis. After all, if critical thinking is not bypassed, then you cannot take the next step either.

To bypass critical thinking, for example, you can activate imagination. When you ask someone to think of their favorite vacation and they can see the images, hear sounds and also feel what they felt at the time, then critical thinking is bypassed.

There are a number of other ways like this, but this is the easiest way. So you can move on to step 3.

Stimulating unconscious processes

When you bypass critical thinking you still don't have hypnosis. If you then say, for example, "as long as you hear the sounds of the vacations you won't feel anything at all," you create hypnosis.

Having bypassed critical thinking, you enter the realm of selective thinking. That part assumes almost everything to be true, and that's where you want to end up.

So you can sow good suggestions and implant good feelings in people. That's not a bad plan, if you look around 😉

But there are plenty of hypnotherapists and hypnotists who do these steps just fine, yet get very mixed results. This is because of 2 very important things:

  • Intention
  • Report

Intention is one of the most important factors of making hypnosis successful. When there is no doubt and no fear on the part of the hypnotist then the person will go into hypnosis much more easily.

The hypnotist or hypnotherapist can train this by VAP or you Visualize that it will succeed, you Affirm that it will succeed and you Project that it will succeed.

In addition, a sense of trust and safety is essential to the success rate. We also call that report although it is a bit more comprehensive. We already spend a day on it in the hypnotherapy practitioner to train it properly. It is the feeling of connection.

These 2 things make the difference between ok, mediocre and the master. Train on these if you want to get good at hypnosis and you will find that your results will get a lot better.

Very special that I come across all these formulas as mentioned here AOS and VAP here within hypnotherapy and have used them for years in my practice as a health coach. Reading it like this, it all seems very familiar territory and yet I have never done any hypnotherapy training. It turns out that different therapy tools can be very close together. Very surprising!
