What a unique event. We will have a king again! That hasn't happened since William III, and it's been a while. Since 1890 the monarchy has been led by women, but now a man may be at the helm again. But who was the first king anyway?
The First King
The first king of the Kingdom of the Netherlands was Napoleon. He was crowned king in 1806. This was followed by William I, II and III.
So that's how long we haven't even had a monarchy. Before that we were a republic and yet as a small country we had a big stake in the world. Pretty clever although, of course, we didn't really do it very cleanly back then.
What the Dutch do have is a drive for freedom and discovery. We like to discover new things and feel free. Now in these times that is certainly a challenge but it is possible.
Freedom is something you feel inside and has little to do with the outside world. When you feel free then you can also discover much more of that outside world and discover that there are plenty of opportunities for everyone.
I myself did not feel free for years, but since hypnosis I feel freer and freer. I do what I like, earn my money from it and can take time off whenever I want. That was definitely not the case before.
I was a slave to drink and drugs, and my work also kept me trapped in that circle, until I broke the circle myself. After all, you have to do it yourself. That took years to get to where I am today, but now I have the freedom to do what I want.
