There are different stages of hypnosis and one state is different working from another. In fact, there are different ways to work in hypnosis. One is not necessarily better than the other but it is important to realize that you get a different form of therapy when you are in light hypnosis than in deep hypnosis.
Stages of hypnosis
You have 4 states to achieve in hypnosis:
- Light hypnosis
- Deep hypnosis (somnambulism)
- Hypnotic coma
- Hypnosleep
All of these states require a different approach to work. If you remain in mild hypnosis for any reason (often the reason is a report issue) then as a hypnotherapist you need to work differently.
In light hypnosis, you have little use for direct instructions and working in the traditional way. Using the word "not" is also not helpful then. This is because the person will not register that word and so the instruction "You no longer have fear" becomes an instruction to feel the fear in fact. To understand that phrase, you have to know what fear means, and often it is a feeling.
If you are only trained to work directly and people don't get into that state then your work soon ends and you still don't have the success you might like while you can work just fine in light hypnosis.
NLP, for example, is a way to work with light hypnosis or visualizations or indirect suggestions. It often takes a little more time to master but it is well worth it if you are serious about doing hypnosis.
Deep Hypnosis
The second state is deep hypnosis. In this state, thinking is completely gone. The person no longer thinks anything at all; it is blank. One is therefore completely open to suggestions. We also call this state the somnambulistic state.
You reach this state in someone via amnesia (which is the shortest path) or by fractioning. By constantly taking someone out of hypnosis and putting them back in, the person can go deeper and deeper. Amnesia (forgetting something) is then the test for you. Some hypnotherapists do not test anything at all, but then I wonder if they know what they are doing.
The Esdaile state
The third state is also called the hypnotic coma or the Esdaile state. It is a state in hypnosis in which the person no longer follows any suggestions. Even the instruction "Open your eyes" will not work.
It is an interesting state because in this state the person has full anesthesia and you can work with it just fine as a doctor, dentist or midwife, for example.
You get that person out of the state by saying, "If you don't open your eyes now you will never get into this state again. That works perfectly to get that person out. In fact, it's such a wonderful feeling that a person wants to stay in there. That is why suggestions are not followed.
The hypnosis sleep
The fourth and most interesting state of hypnosis is hypnosis sleep. In the master practitioner we will work with this state and you will then create hypnosis from natural sleep.
My son has suffered from certain problems for a very long time. I won't elaborate too much on this but talking didn't get us anywhere. Then I hypnotized him in his sleep and found out exactly what the problem was. What the cause was.
In hypnosis sleep, my son could just talk and do anything he could normally do but he stayed asleep and couldn't remember anything about it. The problem he was facing was solved though.
As you can imagine, this is a state that is very interesting because what is possible in that state. I myself am experimenting with it and it is super.
If you want to discover everything about hypnosis, you really need to go discover these states. With us you will discover them in the master so you can train there to actually do it well.
