Reduce pain with hypnosis

Stun with hypnosis

Thehospital in Ede is using hypnosis to help people with intestinal problems. The remedy is used for people with irritable bowel syndrome. This is abdominal pain with no apparent physical cause

According to the hospital, hypnotherapy offers relief for them. Several scientific studies show that it significantly reduces pain and improves bowel function.

This was featured on Midland FM. This is a good development and you see hypnosis being used more and more in sedation and pain relief.

However, it can be applied much more if you ask me.

That my son was 3 years old, he had surgery. It was an operation on his penis, which lasted 4 hours. There are only 2 specialists in the Netherlands who can do this surgery, and fortunately one was in Amsterdam. The other one is in Groningen.

The doctor had said he would have to stay in the hospital for about two weeks. After five days, the bandages would come off and then he would have to stay in the hospital for about another week for recovery.

After surgery, he came to the recovery room. There I was allowed to join him and gave him 30 minutes of suggestions such as: "Every beep you hear you get better faster," "You heal fast," and "You can make yourself better fast. I kept doing that until he woke up.

He was 3, so the suggestions must be very simple. By the way, I think that works better with adults too, but well....

After 5 days, the bandages were allowed to come off and the doctor warned me, "Dad, respond normally. It looks all black and blue and don't be alarmed. After all, your little son sees that too.'

Yummy then, I was immediately on edge and already getting all kinds of visions. I also felt it right away, which is not very pleasant.

The bandages came off and everything looked cool. Nothing black, nothing blue, just skin. You couldn't see a scab anywhere. The doctor looked at me for a moment and said, "Miraculous," and walked away.

After 2 hours, she came back and said we could go home that afternoon. Unbelievable. She too had not experienced it before that it healed so quickly.

This is the power of suggestion, and especially with anesthesia, it works very well. I advocate that they start doing this everywhere and with everyone. You can also arrange this yourself by asking someone to do it for you when you are going to have surgery. The important thing is that you go under full anesthesia, because then the suggestions are immediately installed unconsciously.

Do you also have great experiences with this? Then share them below....

Do you know people in your network (LinkedIn, Facebook or Twitter) who could benefit from this? If so, notify them and then send them here. Everyone should know that it works so well!

Hi Edwin, First of all… I found last Saturday’s workshop valuable and enjoyable. I also ran into a huge mistake, by the way—but that’s where you learn the most. I was trying to help a woman “bring up” a few important happy events from her life… “Now go to a fantastically happy moment in your life,” I said in a monotone voice. “For example, a wonderful day with your child or husband.” ...When she was “back,” she told me that everything had been going wonderfully at first... until I said the word “child.” She explained that she didn’t have a husband and that it was quite a “source of pain” for her… that she didn’t have a child either. That’s where the trance fell apart. Back to the hospital in Ede… That’s right, Edwin—I was there too, with a suspected case of IBS. I was told they had good results with hypnotherapy. So I went to Amstelveen for that… I found those sessions wonderfully relaxing, and they did temporarily relieve my symptoms… but it later turned out that I had chronic pancreatitis, for which I had to have surgery after all. Best regards, Wouter

Isn’t this essentially about influencing unconscious processes? I’ve also read that simply looking at bodybuilders and thinking about strength training can lead to increased muscle growth, even without lifting a single kilo. I’ve also heard that this can be used, for example, to (re)stimulate physical growth. Does anyone happen to know to what extent this is true?

@Niels You can indeed. You can heal yourself and "make" damaged parts again. I'll throw in some studies because I don't have them handy right now. But it is good to know that it is possible.

When my children were little, I discussed with her stories to help aches and pains or minor injuries heal faster. What healing looked like—whether a light, a figure, or something else in your body could bring about healing, and how, with which colors, etc. It was fun to do; I could work better with her own images and ideas when I turned them into a guided visualization. Children aren’t judgmental yet and are happy to cooperate. Later, it turned out that they did this on their own as well, as they got older—even shifting eczema—because they simply knew it worked that way and that it was possible! Now that they’re a bit older and have symptoms that could also be alleviated by this, it turns out that their belief in the power of their minds and imagination has greatly diminished, because no one around her finds it plausible anymore; medical-scientific thinking has taken over, and people label it as “childish.” Such a shame! I hope she rediscovers this with her own children.
