Presence, the skill you must have as a hypnotherapist or hypnotist

In May, I attended 2 weeks of mesmerism training in France and Belgium. In those trainings I discovered a very special technique. Still more techniques and methods of course, but 1 skill I would like to share with you because it is now standard in hypnosis trainings

Presence is the key

Presence is a skill found in ancient religions. The Buddha had presence, Jesus had it and "enlightened" masters have it. You too have probably experienced it when you meditate. Suddenly you experience a stillness, a peace while being completely present.

Now, of course, you don't have to experience this only in meditation. Even when you do a sport then you can experience it. I myself do aikido and experience it from time to time.

When you have presence, you are fully present. You feel your body, you are aware of it, and your presence is also outside of you. Your vision is wide and peripheral. So you see everything, so to speak, and you also feel your body.

Presence and Hypnosis

When you are completely present with hypnosis, the results are also suddenly very different. Many times better, too. Hypnosis is not just language and following instructions, although that is essential. Presence is something that makes everything better, but how do you get more presence.

If you practice meditation or engage in mindfulness you know the principle. Becoming empty in your mind and body with complete presence in the process. Meditation makes you more present, but presence goes beyond that,

Presence is being present even without meditation. Being present everywhere. You can start with that with the following exercise.

Be more present

As you read this feel your right hand. Continue to feel it as you read the rest of this article. This will make you more present in your body as you keep your attention on these words and what you are thinking about.

That's a challenge because are you still feeling it?

The more you do this the stronger your presence is going to become. From there you can start working with two hands and build that into your whole body.

An Indian proverb says, "The man who is aware of his breathing for 24 hours is enlightened," and I think that's true. Just do it in fact.

What I've noticed now since I've been training this is that very few people actually attend. Not that I am very present I think, but compared to most around me it is really amazing how few people this is.

The continuous pursuit of money, love, relationships, women, men, things or other illusions to obtain something. But what to obtain? Happiness? Wisdom?

Of course, all the above things are not necessarily an illusion but they are when you attach certain interests to them. If you think it's going to bring you something. Of course it will bring you something but not what you really want.

The key lies in being present, that's where you find the wisdom, the love, the relationship you really want, the things that bring you true bliss. That may sound floaty but it's actually very down to earth. People who chase all kinds of things float, those are the floaters. When you are present, you are absolutely no longer floating.

When you start on the path of being present you will find that everything improves. Hypnosis and hypnotherapy got the better of me, my relationships improved and my business is also improving. So everything you can chase suddenly happens naturally when you "are there.

Leave a comment what you think about it and if you too recognize this in yourself. I'm curious....

Oh yes do you still feel your right hand 😉
