Power of Habit: Hamburger order, view, sniff, discard

View, sniff, discard. This is how to lose weight.

Yesterday I was watching a quiz with my wife and the boys. Kind of stupid quiz I thought, but one question was interesting.

'What does it take to stop liking fast food?'

A: You have to order it, look at it, sniff the smell and then throw it away....

You may be thinking, 'Discarding? What the hell is that supposed to mean? "

Power of Habit

However, it's all about training a new habit. Only what they didn't add until later is that you have to do this so often. That will cost you gobs of money if you're a fast food junkie, so really it's not a very convenient one.

It does work.

To change something, there are roughly two ways that work very well.

  1. Repeating a new habit until you do it subconsciously
  2. Hypnosis

To get the first one right, it's helpful to connect it to a habit you're already doing. One of my habits is getting up, walking downstairs and making a green smoothie. I linked the latter to walking to the kitchen and grabbing a cup.

I was already doing that. The green smoothie came next, so it didn't take too much effort relatively to add. This strategy comes from the Power of Habit, an interesting little book which has researched how to effectively create good habits now.

Repeat several times and it works....

But ... I hear you thinking. I don't always succeed. True, it's hard with me, too. It's training again anyway and we are lazy people by nature. In the sense that if it takes effort, we'd rather not.

That's why hypnosis is also a great way to make a change. It's more effortless. For example, you can instantly install that new habit or install a belief right away or resolve a blockage that does make you take action.

You can make those programs your own right away so to speak. Fairly easy and then little repetition is required. A lot less if you were to do it yourself.

Installing a habit takes an average of 62 days. Some people succeed after only three weeks, but some only after three months. With me it is about after about eight weeks I know from experience.

But with hypnosis, it's often right there after just one session. So hypnotizing yourself into good habits is a lot easier than training.
