Parenting. This is how you do it!
When most people read that sentence then something happens. It can make you curious, but it can also make you a little angry.
Angry, yes, because who is going to tell you how to go about raising your children. You decide that yourself, right? And that's essentially crazy.
Parenting is how you do it!
Friends of mine have a dog and they have been on a course for months. One who has rottweilers and still goes to all kinds of follow-up courses with them. Another has a very educated and trained shepherd dog that listens tremendously well.
But with their children, they have never been to a course....
They know.
And that's actually crazy. There are certain rules and ways that work well for a dog and that's fine to learn from someone, but when it comes to your children you do it yourself.
Looking at the numbers and results, we are not doing very well on average. 1.2 million people take antidepressants, more than 50% are overweight, half don't maintain a relationship, 70% don't like their job and you could go on and on.
Of course, you can't blame it all on parenting, but these people also have children. And the chances of those children doing the same thing are pretty high.
But then again, who is going to set up that course and who do you take what from? If it's a dog trainer you'll listen, but a child trainer? Don't think so.
If I may humbly introduce one rule to the course, it is this one. It is very old and probably dates back to the 18th century. The rule: "Rest, Regularity and Cleanliness. I think many children would benefit from this now.
What would you add in that course?
