Last week I had the opportunity to treat a number of people for needle phobia, and what I did with those people was always the same thing coincidentally. Usually I work with hypnosis and especially direct hypnosis, but now I worked with waking hypnosis
Waking Hypnosis
Waking hypnosis is open-eyed hypnosis. It is offering an idea that the other person then accepts. Dave Elman says of this, "The mind has to lock itself around an idea.
My oldest son had to go for his vaccinations some time ago. You can debate whether that's a good idea at all, but we think it is. Then you stand there in a room full of kids waiting for the vaccination.
He was getting more and more tense and while we were standing there like that a little boy came by and said, 'It's not too bad, just right boy, that hurts. My arm is all stiff.
I looked at my son and saw him rubbing his right arm and thought "suggestion installed, not helpful.
It was his turn and he sat down. The lady explained very well what was going to happen, as if you want to know. He was getting more and more tense and I interrupted the lady. I said to him, "Look into my eyes and listen to my voice. As long as you look into my eyes and listen to my voice then you will not notice anything at all of what is happening around you'
I repeated this several times and the pricks were set and he didn't notice anything. We walked away and suddenly he rubbed his right arm. He said to me that he felt it anyway. I told him that the lady had forgotten to say something else.
I said, "You have to squeeze something like my hand. If you squeeze 1 time that feeling gets worse, if you squeeze the second time it starts to go away and by the third time it's gone'
He did it and it worked. His mind locked itself around the idea....
Needle phobia or Fear of Needles
With the clients I worked with last week, I also did waking hypnosis. At least a slightly different form. I had them think about the first time they were afraid of needles and they remembered it. One remembered it exactly and the others didn't quite, but they were all intense memories.
With any anxiety, people focus on one part of the moment, and that's often the unpleasant moment. Now I had them pick a moment before it where they felt comfortable. Then I also had them create a moment after where they felt fine.
I had them play that new movie in the theater where they stood behind the projector. After the movie ended, they stepped into the last moment and rewound the movie with a funny music. I used the Benny Hill Tune!
After a few rewinds, I had them play the movie again feeling good about it. The anxiety was gone within 20 minutes. The sessions lasted less than 45 minutes.
When people can clearly remember where a fear comes from as here with the fear of needles or needle phobia, this method is very powerful. If they don't know exactly then I can always do a regression.
These people are freed from their fear of needles and their phobia of needles. They are also no longer afraid of injections or blood draws. Do you want that too? Then get in touch with us.
