Why do you do what you do? What drives you to get up every day and do your thing, and are you secretly really doing your thing or is there something stopping you from doing what you were actually put on this planet to do? Finding out what drives you gives direction to your life and through this you can overcome all kinds of problems, such as addictions. In this blog, I explore what drives are and how you can find your ultimate drive.
What are drives?
Finding your drives is finding something that motivates you to change your life (or the lives of others). You have a drive to do something about your situation and that then becomes your mission.
There are an awful lot of famous people who have taken on a great mission at some point. Think, for example, of Martin Luther King or a famous professional football player or pop star. So you can have a mission for the world or a mission for yourself. It doesn't matter as long as it motivates you to get out of bed every day and do something constructive.
Research also shows that when you want to develop yourself because of a mission it helps you to be more motivated to learn something, you learn faster and you also take more initiative to learn[1].
Discovering your drives
So how do you know what motivates you to at least make the world a better place for yourself? Sometimes you get this feeling of "I should do that sometime," for example, many people feel the need to write a book. Still others feel the need to take a trip around the world or run a (half) marathon.
Do you ever feel this way? Then write down what your goal is and go for it!
Even very grand goals, such as becoming the competitor of Tesla are goals you can write down and are a mission you can engage in. Thinking big is definitely an option and, above all, don't let yourself be made smaller.
For each goal you write down, you can write a small summary of how you will achieve it. For example, you write down what it takes to run a marathon. This might include training and eating healthy because that's what your body needs for a marathon.
To write a book, you may need a course, or just a typewriter (or computer).
By thinking a little longer about something you want to do, you can instantly see that it doesn't have to be that hard to achieve at all. All you have to do is DO it!

Be free to do whatever you want
But doing that is the step where you can get stuck. Something may be blocking you from literally taking the steps necessary to carry out your personal mission. Often these are limiting beliefs.
Beliefs are your view of how the world works and how you function in it. Sometimes those beliefs can make you afraid to take the steps or think you can't take them at all.
It is then important to clear those blocking beliefs. For example, when you look at your list of "I should do that someday" posts after a while and you see that you haven't made a move yet, put why not.
For example: I haven't started writing my novel yet because I don't know where to start.
So in that case, you already know what you don't know and then you also know that you can consult an expert to ask where you should actually start.
See how to take your first step
If you especially lack the imagination to get started, a hypnosis expert can help you with a guided visualization. For example, if you also want to produce electric cars like Tesla, it is good to know if you can partner with auto parts manufacturers and how to get an initial budget to produce your first concept car.
A guided visualization can then go as follows:
"You've figured out that you want to produce electric cars. To know what you need to do this, you sit down at your PC. You go to the search engine for finding companies that supply auto parts. You feel the keys moving under your fingers as you do this. When you have found a company that seems to supply what you are looking for you pick up the phone and ask them for more information. What do they need from you and what do you need from them to make that electric car. The first step is now taken and with the1st step the2nd step is initiated. This feels right."
This is just an example of a guided visualization. Depending on your block and drive, you may receive a different guided visualization from a hypnosis expert.
Confidence in your drive
As you continue to work on your drive and mission, you may find it changing. After taking a few steps, you may find out about a problem you were completely unaware of.
This sometimes requires you to adjust your motive or even your mission. This is OK. in fact, adjusting your mission is very different from letting go. It is a way of dealing with a setback.
Therefore, it is sometimes important to consider why you are doing something. Why do you want to build a new electric car, why do you want to run the marathon, why do you want to write a book? Why are you doing what you've done so far?
A hypnosis expert can help you figure out this question with a so-called Socratic conversation in which the why question is repeated several times. This gets you to the core of your beliefs and to the core of your mission.
Finding the combination of your beliefs and true mission for your life is wise because then you will also immediately notice what beliefs are holding you back from having confidence that you can carry out your mission.
Then you can change those beliefs that keep you confident in your mission so you don't develop new blocks. This can be done, for example, with hypnotic suggestions, such as:
"Your motivation is not something that has to be good for humanity, it may be good for you."
"You have the resources you need to carry out your mission," he said.
"You may ask for help from other people to carry out your mission," he said.
"Not everyone will have an understanding of your mission, this is ok."
"Some people will have the same mission, that's fine and says nothing else about your success," says Dr. K. K., president of the company.
"People with the same mission you can ask for help, working together will take you farther," he said.
These are just examples of suggestions to be confident in your drives and in your mission.
Finding out about your motivations can be done in several ways. Writing down what you want to achieve, whether for yourself or for the world, is a good first step. Then you can write down what you need to do and find out why you are not doing it in order to find out your unconscious blocks.
Then you can seek help to remove those blockages if you can't do so yourself after becoming aware of them. For example, a hypnosis expert can give you a push with a guided visualization or remove your blockages in another way.
