Intention: The way to make hypnosis and your life a success

I am often asked weekly if I can explain anything about hypnotizing with your eyes, energy or intention. This is also reflected in the hypnosis seminars and in the training. This essentially goes throughout the training. In it we have all kinds of exercises to reinforce working with intention, energy and the eyes.

Intention meaning

If you Google intention you get the result that an intention is an intention to perform a certain action. It thus precedes behavior, although this is not to say that every intention is performed or fully carried out.

This is kind of interesting. So an intention is actually a kind of thought in which you envision what you want to do or who you want to be or something like that. You can imagine how you want something to be.

That is then something you want to live by, which means you can perform that behavior faster.

The great thing is that such intention is something you can notice. Even the world around you can be affected by it. And you can also consciously influence the world around you, this is also something you do as a hypnotist with intention.

Intentionality and the reaction of the world around you

This is super interesting stuff. There are a few people who have experimented with intention. Cleve Backster put a polygraph near a plant because he wanted to know if plants felt pain. So he hit the plant and the polygraph struck out. So yes in itself logical, because the vibrations come from the plant being struck.

Then he started sending a picture as it were. He imagined that plant on fire and tried to mentally transmit that to that plant. The polygraph struck out. Mythbusters tested it and came up with the same results[1].

So it has an effect.

So if plants have any effect at all, people certainly do. Essentially, anything living will respond. If a plant responds, we can assume that the rest will also respond to images.

The cool thing is that we had Mesmer in 1700/1800 and he also worked with intention, energy and magnetism.

He worked with intention, suggestion and magnetism (energy). These 3 things and from there sending energy with suggestions made mesmerism. From this later came hypnosis, because people thought only the suggestions were effective.

But when you add intention, presence and energy, the suggestion becomes many times stronger.

Hypnosis and Intentions

In the training we use 3 energy centers, namely:

  1. Het derde oog.

This is the point between the eyebrows. This is an energy center for sending what you want. You can then see in your mind's eye before you what you want, this you can think of.

To see that reality in front of you and not doubt it. So knowing for sure "this is going to happen," the intention. You send that to the energy center of the other person's third eye so that they notice "wow, something is happening."

That's the head. The head alone can do an awful lot for intention and intimidation. You also often see in old hypnosis pictures that people have their eyes completely open and that looks quite intimidating and scary. That is also where many fears about hypnosis come from, such as that the hypnotist has power over you (which is not the case).

But with this, then, is to train to impose your will, say, which is not actually happening. In fact, hypnosis is an interplay. The person you hypnotize wants to be in hypnosis and wants to change something, they want to feel better. I want the same for that person.

With his will it doesn't work (yet) and with my will included I'm going to help him achieve it. So then you have 2 wants. But this looks pretty intense when you look at it from the outside.

  1. Het hart

To soften it all up, use heart energy. Do you turn on only your heart energy? Then you can quickly go from compassion to pity. That's something you want to avoid. You want compassion more than anything.

This makes the intimidating from the head much softer. You get softer eyes and then a completely different intention comes in.

  1. De buik

In Aikido, you also work with the energy of the abdominal center. Whoever could intune the lowest with the other person, that person had the foundation of the other person and that person could then take the other person that way.

Your brain is then at the service of your body. This is the other way around for most people, that the mind influences the body. Here the body is present, you are in your belly and have connection with the energy in the other person's belly, then the other person loses balance and surrenders, so to speak.

This is great for hypnosis, of course. When someone surrenders they go all in on your will so to speak, and that is that they follow the process of healing and changing themselves. This you then facilitate.

This is an easier way to get it done.

Actually, you don't work from the head down, but from the bottom up and essentially at the same time. So it starts very quickly and eventually you are working with these 3 simultaneously for your intention.

If you miss 1 then things can work just a little differently than you want. That's why in the trainings we train how to activate these 3. You don't have to tell your client what you are doing, but your client notices.

You then get a kind of hypnotic vibe, that's what I call it. It creates a kind of energy field in which changes can take place. For me, that's often what I miss in therapy.

Something is then often not created in which change happens easily.

So this can be done, but you have to do it in pairs. You have a transmitter and a receiver, both of which can be trained. In the process, someone has to be willing to receive.

Therefore, the hypnotist has no power either. A person has to want something, and because he or she wants something they surrender to the vibe, because they assume that this hypnotherapist can help them.

Then miraculous things can happen.

You can also apply it in your own life. You can be mindful to have an intention and be present. In doing so, you create your own positive energy field.

This is why meditation can be so great.

Intention and success

So as a hypnotist, you need an intention to help someone for success. This is not the only thing you need an intention for for success. Even in working life, when you are doing something other than hypnotizing, it is helpful to have good intentions.

Those intentions are then combined with your worldview. The image you have of the world and how you are supposed to function in it can make you successful or unsuccessful in what you want to achieve.

Even software developers have caught on[2]. Not exactly a profession where you think intentions and beliefs play a big role, but apparently they do.

Intentions and feeling low on energy

If you suffer from ego depletion, you suffer from feeling that you have little energy for yourself. Research shows that people who suffer greatly from this when they set the intention to move the next day, they achieve this intention more often than when they suffer less.

The interesting thing was that this feeling of having no energy for yourself had especially significant an effect on fulfilling the intention to move, but not on all other intentions[3].

So intentions affect the plants around you. You can cause a certain vibe between 2 people with intentions, intentions can help you at work and even with your sense of energy. Very interesting.
