Being happy is slightly different from being happy. Being happy is a kind of general state of being. Generally speaking, you are then happy. If you are generally not happy, that can translate to being unhappy, but that is not necessarily the case. Being happy is also something you can control a little easier than being happy. When being happy, you often notice that you get a smile on your face and feel fresher and fitter.
If you're not happy you should read on, because there are things you can do daily to be happier.
I'm not happy
Initially, it is helpful to identify why you are not happy. Is it because of your work, your personal life or people you have around you? After all, if it is something you can ignore or get out of the way, you have already taken the first step.
Elements in your life that don't make you happy, or even unhappy, can be banished from your life.
Is there something in your home that doesn't make you happy?
Way to go!
Can't stand that neighbor? With a bow around it.
The value of joy
How important do you think it is to be happy? In fact, research shows that if you think a lot about being happy and pay a lot of attention to it, you tend to be less happy.
As a result, the way to be happy may include focusing less on the question, Am I happy?
You can better focus on what you're doing and go with the flow you're in at the time. In the end, you'll be happier because of that than if you keep getting frustrated because you're not happy.
Simply accepting that you feel the way you feel helps you feel happier in the end.
Get out into nature
The color green is calming, which is why it is so important for large cities to have parks and to take occasional walks through the woods. By spending half an hour daily in a natural environment, such as in a park, forest or among the meadows, you help yourself unwind.
This peace of mind is a good foundation from which to be happy.
What do you enjoy doing?
Ask yourself what activities make you happy or proud? What makes you feel fulfilled when you are done? For one person this might be cleaning the whole house and for another it might be a bit of cycling.
If you're actually not so sure what makes you feel happy, try something new every day. Like
- Cooking a new recipe.
- Clearing a room completely.
- Knitting
- Solving a crossword puzzle.
- A piece of walking.
When you know what you are doing, you can at least feel good when you are doing it, or at least no worse than when you are not doing anything. At least you can arrange your free time so that you are doing things you enjoy.
You then prioritize not getting happy, but doing positive things. Those positive things should at least make you feel good or better. If it doesn't make you happy, that's okay, as long as it's more fun than doing nothing.
Do you find it hard to give yourself a fun activity, feel that other people will judge you if you find out that you find crocheting super fun to do, and so you leave it at that?
Then a hypnotist can help you clear that block. After all, the beliefs you have about what belongs and what doesn't and what is normal don't have to be true at all, and if they're bothering you, then surely it's more convenient to get beliefs that give you the freedom to do what you love and what makes you happy.
Engage with people who make you feel better
Not only are activities that make you feel better important, so are the people you interact with. Sometimes negativity can creep into a relationship. Suddenly you notice that that one friend actually frowns on everything you do, whether laughably or not, but that doesn't make you feel any better.
Therefore, meet with people who make you feel better than when you are alone.
Don't have those people around you? Then join Facebook groups or find a hobby that allows you to meet new people. Humans are social creatures, and it's important to have contacts.
Always being alone because you only know "stupid" people is obviously not healthy either.
Join a hiking club, join a team sport or take a course. Friendships can form in the craziest places. Ask that person with whom it clicks to have a cup of coffee sometime.
Can't imagine reaching out to people in such a way? Are you excited to sign up to learn something new?
Even then, a hypnotist can help you increase the chances of getting the people in your life that make you happy. A hypnotist can do this, for example, with a guided visualization, such as:
"You are at a pot baking workshop. It's very entertaining and the other participants are having fun, too. You joke about the shape of your pot and a fellow participant laughs. After the workshop you talk to him/her or even the whole group to have another drink. Half join you, it becomes a fun evening and at least you have a few new Facebook friends."
Schedule time to do things you want to do
Do you sometimes feel like you live by someone else's schedule? Schedule specific times when you will do what you enjoy doing. Possibly take a day off if you have that luxury.
Constantly doing something that makes you unhappy because you have to conform to someone else's agenda can cause you to say "I'm not happy." That cannot be your intention.
Therefore, indicate to that person that you deserve your me-time. So in that me-time, you can do activities you enjoy and meet up with friends you just can't otherwise see.
Do you feel like you're not worth scheduling time for. Do you get a weird feeling when you have to write down "3 hours to myself" in the calendar. Then a hypnotist can help you through suggestions. Hypnotic suggestions ensure that beliefs that help you live more freely are more strongly present in your subconscious than beliefs that block you from doing so.
You can repeat these suggestions at home during self-hypnosis. For self-hypnosis, you sit or lie down in a comfortable place. You relax all your muscles and breathe calmly. You close your eyes and then turn on your hypnotist's mp3 or repeat out loud the suggestions, such as:
I get to take my time.
People also consider me.
I may report if I get too busy.
I may have crazy hobbies.
Me time helps you relax.
These are just examples of suggestions. Depending on your beliefs, you may get other suggestions that will help you do things that make you happy.
Strengthen the bond with your partner
Are you lucky enough to be in a steady relationship? A good relationship with your partner is incredibly important for feeling happy and for long-term happiness. It is therefore very important to strengthen your relationship, for example with a date-night. Time for yourself and for your relationships is very important.
In doing so, it is helpful if you look at your relationship in a positive way.
When you spend a few minutes thinking about your relationship, do you think mostly about the positive things or the negative things? Focusing more on the positive will also make you happier during your date with your partner.
One way to focus on the positives is to keep a journal and write down 1-3 things you liked about your partner that day each day. This will also make you pay more attention to the positive aspects of your partner.
Doing things together and focusing on the positives are not the only things you can do with your partner. Determine for yourself what your strengths are and how you can use them to help your partner. Are you just the better cook? Then you can make delicious food for him/her. Does he/she need help with financial decisions? Then you can research the pros and cons of such a decision. See for yourself where you can help your partner.
A hypnotist can help you with this as well.
So take time for yourself, time for friends and totally take time to strengthen your relationship.
