What fascinates me is, what causes some people to be successful and others not? For example, if you look at most self-employed people, many are just above the poverty line.
There are 1.9 million businesses in the Netherlands. Most are ZZP-ers and 65% of them are just doing very poorly.
4% of all businesses do a million sales or more and only 100 do a billion sales or more. That's 0.006% of businesses.
Of course, revenue doesn't say it all, but it's easy math. After all, why don't most people do a lot better? Don't they want to make money? Then why start a business?
Entrepreneur's Hypnosis
Most people start a business to be free and then create the worst job for the worst boss you can have.
They work extremely hard and keep going. Take little time off, because yes there has to be bread on the table.
A few percent of businesses are doing just fine. Indeed, the entrepreneur feels free, can go on vacation and also makes sure his children have every opportunity.
What's the difference? That entrepreneur's hypnosis.
The hypnosis? Yes, that entrepreneur's unconscious automatic program.
See, most people look at how others do it, but most people actually do it poorly. If you look away from that, it's not going to get better. Instead, you have to look at the people who are doing very well.
And that's tough, because first, there aren't that many of them. Second, those are different from you and that may feel separate. Third, you have to deal with your own environment less and that too is difficult.
This is why many entrepreneurs fail. They stay in a circle with people who don't want them to grow and don't step into the circle of people who actually do want them to grow.
Just look at the top richest people in the world. All men who often did the exact opposite of what everyone else around them did.
And that's a very good start. My mentor used to say, "If you don't have examples do the exact opposite of the people around you. 96% of people are simply not right with their advice. Do the opposite of that.'
That advice has not hurt me one bit. Take advantage of it
