Hypnosis in the Dental Practice

My son had to go to the dentist some time ago because his molar was bothering him. That molar was in bad shape and had to be taken out. I think everyone knows how that goes, but not him. After all, it was the first time so he was pretty relaxed until something happened..

Dental anxiety

During the treatment, things didn't go quite right because he still felt the pain and panicked. The dentist persevered and the molar came out and he calmed down. It was an experience and it sank in among all the other experiences.

But yes, unfortunately another molar came up. Some people have the misfortune of bad teeth and he is 1 of them. Again a molar had to come out, really annoying. Ideally then, as a parent, you want to go in his place.

So the dentist said another molar had to come out and at that very moment he panicked and start crying and was very scared. I stood watching and thought, 'So that's how a phobia is created.'

Of course, as a phobia doctor, I couldn't let that happen and intervened. I asked the dentist if I could work with him for a while and that was ok. Within a few minutes I had him in a deep state of hypnosis and the dentist could work peacefully.

He didn't notice anything about the whole treatment, and the dentist was fascinated by what was happening. She had never seen anything like it before and asked if she could learn it too.

Hypnosis in the Dental Practice

Over the past few weeks I have been training that practice and as of yesterday they are the first practice in the Netherlands to work with this form of hypnosis. They are now also able to get patients into a deep state of hypnosis within minutes.

They can even get patients into somnambulism so they can hypnotically sedate them, but much more importantly, patients feel wonderfully relaxed.

We worked with different stages of hypnosis as well as the most anxious patients over the past week and the results were phenomenal. Every dental practice should incorporate it into their treatment regimen and because it works so quickly, it can be done just fine.

Normally, regular training programs state that the patient must first be conditioned in 3 times 20 minutes before they can be treated in hypnosis. The dentist does not have time for that and thus will not start applying hypnosis.

With this method, it can be done in as little as 3 to 5 minutes and then it becomes meaningful. For more information about the this unique method you can contact Hypnosis Institute Netherlands or maybe you are a dentist yourself and want to learn it too.

It benefits both sides. The patients are no longer afraid and the dentist gets more patients as a result. Sounds like a win-win and all thanks to Dave Elman's amazing methods!
