Doing hypnosis? Make them believers....
Milton Erickson said it in the last century. You work with what is there in hypnosis but hardly anyone does. Most hypnotherapists work with a script, or scriptnosis and not hypnosis. And yet hypnosis training programs give Erickson great credit. However, they do little credit to the master.
Hypnotherapy and hypnosis is much easier
Hypnosis is much easier than most people think. Every student who does the hypnosis training with us is amazed after just 1 day that they are able to pull off all kinds of hypnotic phenomena in everyone, and that's because they are discovering something that Erickson had also discovered a long time ago.
Erickson was a phenomenon but somewhat long-winded. He used language brilliantly, but in hypnosis it is hardly useful. It is nice for conversational hypnosis or as they use in NLP, but the usefulness has its limit.
People don't normally talk to each other like this so sometimes the instructions just don't come in when you use the genius language patterns Erickson used. In deep hypnosis, you don't have to and it's just confusing.
Also, the idea that you have to confuse consciousness is such a myth that comes from Erickson and "hypnotists" preach as if it were true. NLPers in particular have a habit of thinking that hypnosis is something like relaxation, that you have to use confusion or load the consciousness with instructions so that it becomes overcrowded and so you get in touch with the unconscious.
Yeah right...
So that's not where...
They can't help it because even the creators of NLP can't really hypnotize well. They pick the people they hypnotize and then it seems great. Not only do the creators of NLP do that, most hypnotists and hypnosis trainers do that.
They seek out the somnambulists, the 20% of humanity who go deep into hypnosis immediately, no matter what you do. The rest are precisely the challenge and 1 thing Erickson did worked very well. I myself am not a fan of Erickson, it is far too cumbersome for me, but he had 1 point which will immediately set you apart from the rest of the hypnotists.
You work with what is ...
And most hypnotists finitely miss this point. They do their thing, a script, an induction, a protocol and miss the most important thing.
What you want is for them to start believing
You want the people who go into hypnosis to believe you. Make them "believers"!
Have you ever heard:
- I don't know if I was really into hypnosis though, I heard everything you said....
- It was nice and relaxing but I was there the whole time, was I in hypnosis????
Or something to that effect...
If you recognize that then they were not believers. You do want them to believe so you have to give them an experience and the best yet is with their eyes open. Make their hand stick while they look at it, their arm go up while they look at it or something like that.
Then they are Believers!
And that instantly makes you someone who is really good and in whom people really trust. With everyone, that test must succeed, and with us we teach master practitioners how to have a 100% result and they have it.
The trick is to work with what is there and figure out your test on that. When you do that smartly, and there are tricks for that, it always works. Those tricks are too long to explain here on paper but when you do them then it cannot fail.
When you start doing hypnosis, make people "believers. That way, everything you do after that will have better results.
