FOMO and LOMO
FOMO I think you know. That's the Fear Of Missing Out, or the fear that you're going to miss something. I used to have that on Saturday nights. If I didn't go out then I had a feeling of FOMO although that abbreviation didn't exist back then.
Now, by the way, that FOMO has changed to LOMO....
LOMO or FOMO
LOMO? Yes, the Luck Of Missing Out. The very luck of not being there. What has been a fear of not being there has now been changed in my life by luck. The happiness of not being there right now.
I no longer have to be among those people who drink, smoke, decorate and sit around slacking off. Not that that's wrong, not at all, but for me it's not necessary.
Personally, I prefer to be with my family or with people I leave inspired. And the funny thing is that there are now many more things LOMO than FOMO. Of course I still experience a little FOMO sometimes, but much less than I used to.
Now it's more LOMO-tjes. Delicious that I don't have to go to a festival or a birthday I don't want to go to. Delicious that I don't have mandatory social evenings. Also great that I don't have work I don't want to go to on Mondays.
So many people who don't like their work and burn out. So many people who want to meet all kinds of expectations. So many people who compare and fear what others think of them.
The more I think about that, the more LOMO I have than FOMO.
