A decade ends

We are ending a decade and I would like to take you on a "trip down memory lane. Think back for yourself what all you have accomplished in the past decade.

Over the past decade

In 2010. How old were you then? I myself turned 35 that year, and my children turned 7, 6, 6 and 3 that year. We were living at my in-laws' house and I began to give my first hypnosis training courses structurally.

On average there were 5 people in the group and every three months I conducted a hypnosis workshop with about 20 people in it.

What were you doing at the time? Did you have children? A relationship? What was it like at work then? What was your life like then?

Interesting to think about that.

The best and worst year ever....

My best year ever both private and work was last year (2019). Married and gathered a great team around me in which we did a lot of work last year.

My worst year ever was 2014. Some people had come around me who did not have my best interests at heart. And that's putting it mildly. Of course, you do that yourself. I mean, I let those people in.

Anyway, that year we almost went head over heels, but in 2015 everything changed back to the positive. How that came about? I started investing in masterminds and investing in meeting other people. That changed a lot for me.

You must always look at yourself. What is my part. I made a lot of mistakes and I still do. Just different ones. That you make them you may not be able to do much about, but if you are still making them now then you need to start looking in the mirror.

I keep looking I can tell you, but it does pay off. Pain, therefore often insight and from those insights you can then act. In love.

You can also act out of revenge, and believe me, I've thought about that too. But what does that produce in the long run? Misery. Always.

So rather than take the pain all the way to you and make sure it doesn't happen again. And looking only at yourself. You won't change the other person anyway.

Sounds easy all around, but it's been tough for at least two years. And now? Going great.

Learning moments

Another thing I've learned over the past decade is that you shouldn't be afraid to invest in yourself. My first really big investment (besides my wife and kids ;-)), was Eelco de Boer's bar risers. 20,000 euros. Super a lot of money I thought and still do.

But that year changed everything for me. In it, I met new people, different ways of thinking, and that's what made things go so well after that.

For me, it works very well when I interact with other people who are "better" than me. Not as people, but in terms of skill in something. For example, a better athlete or entrepreneur or hypnotist. Whatever.

I learn from that. Somehow I then tune into those people. If I deal with them a lot then I also adopt all kinds of habits from them so I really have to be careful who I deal with.

I did learn that from 2014-2015.

  • Deal with the wrong people and you're almost personally bankrupt.
  • Deal with the right people and you're almost a happy millionaire.

I say by both almost, because you always still have yourself, but environment is a very powerful factor for me and since then I invest in masterminds and/or business coaching every year.

Chronological

In 2017, I had René Brandjes as a business and private coach who taught me how to start working with teams.

In 2018, I joined Tibor Olgers and tapped my very first million.

In 2019, I joined Tako Oosterkamp and the theme was structure. Delegating and structuring everything even more. And it worked.

And the upcoming year I will be in the Unity organized by Tibor again with other entrepreneurs who are doing business at a high level and so that will give me a different mindset next year.

Because that's where it starts. With your thinking. You have to be able to think it through or you won't do it. How can you do something you haven't thought of first or know. If you don't know, you don't know.

And how do you often get other ideas? Through other people. Can be through a book, can be a podcast, can be a seminar or by hanging out with other people.

Of course, you can also get it through meditation, walking, a good conversation with yourself or thinking time. For me, other people work very well. But only the right people.

Your worst year?

Maybe 2019 was your worst year. Then it's totally good to reflect. What was your part in it. If you know that and change that then you can really go 10x in the coming years. Or even more.

As of next year, there are 18 of us at Hypnosis Institute. In 2010 it was 1, just me. If we grow like this again in the next 10 years, we may well move.

What will the next decade be like with us?

Our mission remains the same. To train 1,000 people who help 1,000 people. That training is going well, but now in the coming years we also want to put more effort into helping our trainees find clients and guide them in such a way that they become even better at their craft. That will be our focus.

In addition, we want everyone within a 30-minute drive to be able to receive hypnosis training from the best hypnosis trainers.

That will be a challenge, but one we are happy to take on as well. First let's realize it within an hour's drive. By the way, would you like to join us? Then watch this video.

I'd also love to hear how your year was and where you want to go in the next decade.
