At the end of 2012, I always look back on the past year. What went well and what can be improved. It is good to ask yourself these questions every week, but at the end of the year it has even more impact
End of 2012
At the end of the year, I look back on a great year. A year in which a lot has happened. The question I ask myself first is:
'What were my biggest successes'
And these were there and what I really enjoyed were the following successes:
- 2 sold out Hypnotherapy practitioner and master practitioner trainings
For me, this was an amazing achievement and a huge recognition for the hard work I put into it.
- Recognition by the BATC and the VBAG
In addition, the recognition from the largest professional associations was also a huge success for me and also a recognition of the quality of hypnotherapy training courses
- New logo and new look of the site
During this year, a new logo and design was created for the website. This was another great moment because in doing so I discovered the power of outsourcing things that I could also do, but would be better off having done. I still have a lot to learn in this but I have taken the first step.
- Moving to a new location
Very exciting was the move to the new location in June. Step by step it is becoming more and more beautiful and more of a real hypnotherapy institute. A private parking lot, several therapy rooms and a large training room. Here we can grow and really realize the dream I have.
- Learned a lot about hypnosis and marketing
Also, I have again taken many courses in hypnosis and marketing and that has already paid off and will continue in 2013. The results with clients are even better and the training is getting better as well.
What could be better
Another good thing to ask yourself is the following question:
'What were my biggest failures'
And there were ;-)
I have learned a lot from some things. The failures I will spare you but the learning moments I give you
- Testing
Always test your work and don't take everything for granted. What works for one person certainly does not have to work for another and I have found that out.
- Don't expect anything
Another thing I've learned this year is not to have very high expectations because that can only lead to disappointment. I will take that with me this year as well.
- Follow your own path
Another thing I have found this year is to follow my own path. I have been hit hard with my nose and that is good. It has strengthened me to go full my own way.
I usually write down the failures first and then ask myself, "What did I learn from this? Those learning moments I have shared with you the failures you can guess ;-)
Of course, so do your greatest successes. After that, I ask myself the question:
'What have I learned this year from the courses, the books I read or the videos I watched'
What I have learned this year and filtered out are the following things:
- Intention is most important in hypnosis
- With energy you can influence and use in therapy
- Marketing is not selling
- Notable products sell, mediocre ones don't
- Regression is one of the best ways to employ in therapy
In addition, I have been greatly inspired by all the books I read and continue to read. Every week at least 1 book and usually 2 or 3. That's definitely a good habit to get into.
Sports
This year I also decided to start working with a personal trainer. This not only creates more freedom in the evening, but also in my head.
Since I work more with goals and extend that into my personal life, I experience much more meaning.
I didn't think it was for me but it is one of the most amazing decisions I have made this year. I am well on my way to meeting my goal this way!
Goals 2013
This year has a few more days and after the closing questions and learning moments you take away, of course, come the goals for 2013.
For me, this year's goals include the following:
- Train 3 times a week to achieve black belt
- 100 books to read next year
- Marketing more products
- Outsource more
- Get licenses
- Putting Hypnosis Institute Netherlands more on the map in the media
- And take more of these pictures ;-)

And what are your goals for this year? Share them below and happy days ahead :-)
