Drink? Rather not because alcohol can cause cancer

A nice drink, a social party, just enjoying a beer in the garden in the warm weather of late. Many people drink alcohol, and as long as it is in moderation it is not a problem. However, alcohol can also cause many things that are not so nice at all.

Alcohol can be very unpleasant

Drinking alcohol is an enjoyable habit for many people. If it stays that way, there is nothing wrong, but we often see the other side of the coin. Addictions, violence, stealing, lying, being confused and you can even go into a coma. The so-called "coma" drinking.

Many accidents happen because someone has had "too much" anyway and therefore can no longer judge things properly. Or the person in question thinks they can do fine things and then (fatal) accidents happen.

Most people know that. Alcohol kills more victims than any drug, and it's freely available too. What most people are not yet aware of, however, is that alcohol can also cause cancer.

Alcohol and cancer?

Yeah that's pretty intense when you read that. Then there's not much cozy about a nice drink anymore. Alcohol contributed to 10% of cancers in men and 3% of cancers in women. These are the following types of cancers: cancer of the pharynx, esophagus and liver, as well as colon and breast cancer.

Health experts are now advocating that every label on alcoholic beverages should state that it may be carcinogenic. That's pretty intense.

Experts say it is not known to the general public that alcohol can cause cancer. According to Peter Rice of the Scottish Health Association, it is mainly in "older people" whose harm is more.

However now all the attention and focus is placed on young people because they drink too much and too heavily, which can also cause all kinds of complications. And what if those get older?

That alcohol can cause cancer needs to be brought into the light anyway, according to Rice. Immediate action must be taken. This is because Europe is where most drinking occurs. Some countries in Europe drink 2.5 times the global average.

It is up to the government and the beverage industry to warn people about this. Just like food that says what is in it, we want to know and have that right to know what is in alcoholic beverages.
