Complainers are bad for your brain
Yes, you probably suspected as much, but listening to complainers and negative messages is bad for you. Not only for your state of mind, but also for your brain itself.
Complainers are bad for you
Research shows that listening to complainers is bad for your brain. Research shows that it affects your brain in such a way that you literally become dumber if you listen to it.
So can you imagine what that means if you find yourself in an environment where people are constantly complaining? If you listen to those people for 30 minutes, you lose neurons in the hippocampus. You need those neurons to solve problems.
So you literally become less creative, probably more reactive and therefore more passive. So not only does it affect your emotional state, but it also turns your brain to mush.
So you already lose neurons by listening to a lament for 30 minutes, can you imagine what it does to your brain if you are exposed to that for years? You don't want that, do you?
Protect Yourself from Complainers
Protect yourself. You don't want to be completely passive, reactive and have your brain beaten to a pulp in a few years, do you? Of course you don't. Use these 3 ways to protect yourself.
Create Distance
It sounds a bit simple, but it’s by far the best way. Create as much distance as possible from the complainers. Is it your family? Visit them less often. Are they your friends? Find other friends. Protect yourself and distance yourself.
Of course, it's also about the "complainer" in your own head. Distance yourself as much as possible from that voice in your head that is constantly complaining. You can do that, for example, by changing the tone of that voice. Make it sexy and see if it still complains like that 😉
Ask the complainer if they want to change
A second approach is to simply ask if they’d like to change their behavior. They’ll probably complain about it, but perhaps they aren’t even aware of it. If they become aware of it, they might be able to do something about it—though I don’t think they will.
Personally, I usually say "What are you going to do about it?" or "What is your part in this? Then they walk away or maybe do something about it.
Putting Up a Shield
If you’re somewhere where you can’t escape the “complainer,” you’ll need to do something else. For example, you can imagine that you have an energy shield around you—that your aura is completely sealed off, forming a wall, a shield that deflects the complaining. You can create this through hypnosis.
You can also imagine that the person across from you looks like a circus character and his or her voice sounds like a cartoon character. That helps keep it from creeping in.
So avoid complainers and engage more with people who positively influence you! If you have any tips for keeping complainers away I'd love to hear them. Mention your tip below in the comment box!
