Today, clinical hypnosis is well established in improving quality of life. But quite a few mistakes are made during this particular way of doing hypnosis.
Clinical Hypnosis
All over the world, people have discovered that they can use the power of their subconscious to cope with a wide range of problems, without having to resort to traditional forms of medicine or therapy. Hypnosis can be performed words by a therapist or by the person himself. In the latter case we speak of self-hypnosis.
Often hypnosis is applied to treat medical problems, such as when traditional treatment fails. In that case, we speak of clinical hypnosis. This form of hypnosis is performed each time by a therapist.
However, there are some things that can go wrong during a hypnosis session. Therefore, here we go over some of the common mistakes and risks in clinical hypnosis, so you can begin a treatment with sufficient forethought and certainty.
In clinical hypnosis, the therapist will want to steer the session in a certain direction. He does this by presenting certain thought patterns to his client in order to help the client formulate specific internal processes.
These can be feelings, memories or images, but it is important that client and therapist sit down together beforehand and discuss these things. Along one side, the therapist must know enough about his client before he can design an effective and targeted hypnosis session.
Since most people have a specific goal in mind when they visit a hypnosis therapist, it is important to discuss together exactly what that goal entails and how it will be achieved.
On the other hand, of course, it is also important for the client to realize what will not happen. Perhaps he is unfamiliar with how clinical hypnosis works and needs to be informed in advance. After all, there is only so much you can look up in advance.
When the client first undergoes hypnosis, it is important for the therapist to take their time to allow the client to undergo hypnosis at their own pace. If this is not done, the therapy can miss its effect or at worst, only make the problem worse. You often see this happen when there is no report.
It is generally not recommended to apply clinical hypnosis to people with unstable mental states. The thing is, hypnosis demands a lot from the human mind, and when people with very unstable mental states undergo hypnosis, the effects can be very unpredictable.
For example, if the client suddenly panics during a session, it will take a lot of effort for the therapist to calm the client down again. So these states are best avoided. Fortunately, you know what to do when you are a good hypnotherapist and stay calm under that circumstance. After all, good hypnosis training pays a lot of attention to this.
It should also be mentioned that some medical conditions significantly increase the risk of clinical hypnosis. These include people suffering from depression, borderline syndrome or personality disorder. These people are often naturally more susceptible to profound mental events and thus certainly to hypnosis.
People with schizophrenic or narcissistic personalities also fall within the high-risk group. Often people suffering from such disorders must also take medication, such as antidepressants. These medications have an effect on the human mind that cannot be underestimated and can increase the risk a client faces during a hyposexual session.
Clinical hypnosis is not just taxing on the mind. What many people forget is that it can also have an effect on the body. For example, a person may feel dizzy when standing up quickly after a session. A good therapist warns his clients of these dangers, especially if the client is taking medication such as insulin, painkillers or blood thinners. Therefore, good communication between therapist and client is very important.
Forms other than Clinical hypnosis
It is worth noting that clinical hypnosis works differently than what we work with. The hypnosis forms we offer as therapists and as an institute in hypnosis training are many times less stressful because they work differently.
No visualizations are used that can trigger all kinds of trauma, but humane and effective methods such as the EV technique. Hypnosis evolves and fortunately so do we. When you stick to certain techniques you often miss an opportunity to learn new things. With us you only discover the newest and most effective techniques.
