On May 5, we celebrate Liberation Day. We celebrate that our country was liberated from the Germans in 1945. Now that was almost 70 years ago and most people did not experience it. But what we all experience is that the world is far from liberated. There is still a lot of war and even now many countries are still occupied, think of Russia right now. For many people, freedom is not at all natural...

Liberation day but not for everyone

They live in a war zone and don't know the freedom we all have at all. Most people live on about 2 euros a day and we are among the 7% richest people in the world. We have that freedom. We can do what we want, when we want, and we don't even necessarily have to work for our money. That's pretty special when you look at the rest of the world.

Yet very many people do not experience that freedom in that way at all. They feel anxious, restless, stressed or insecure. You can imagine when you've lost your job that you don't feel that free at all. And yes welfare is more than 2 euros a day, but you often don't feel free. You can't do what you want at all and you feel restricted.

But yes...

Imagine you do have it. You do have some money, you have a job, you go on vacation once in a while, but you also have a problem... Maybe you are very insecure and as a result you never get that promotion you want. Or you are claustrophobic and you don't go by plane, by car or get into an elevator as a result. Your freedom is limited because of this.

Some people say those are luxury problems, but since when are problems a luxury? Luxury is when you have no obstacles at all, right? What about hay fever or other allergies? When you suffer from those then you can suffer terribly and you don't have to.
